The amount that Scotland takes back is, in relative terms, about the same as you putting £1,000 into a bank and getting back £1,000.01.

Actually, that's a decent way of thinking about it: the excess we get back is the interest.

Tunnock's Taylor / BBC gets savaged on this thread, though that's a regular occurrence. Some is worth a read.

edit: last thread was 8,681 replies and 220,621 views.

Do you think this part 2 thread will reach the heights of part 1, with over 8500 posts and nearly 350 pages ?

Probably, why did they start another thread anyway?

They do that sort of thing every 6 months/8k posts (whichever comes first). It's a server speed thing I believe.

Because, and despite warnings from the mods, the other was way past being a discussion thread, it was more of a school playground complete with wind-ups and insults and I guess the final straw was the disrespectful post (deleted by the mods) which ended up with the member concerned having a short break from posting because of it.

Completely incorrect.

The previous reason given is the correct one. Just look around the forum for evidence of this.

That doesn't make it correct.

It's correct.

If the thread had been closed for the reasons you gave:

1) The last two posts from it wouldn't have been split off to form the start of this one
2) This one wouldn't have been started in the first place
3) It would have been closed and a reason given, not just the final remaining post edited with a message to say "continued at..."

But no doubt you will continue to claim otherwise, despite this overwhelming evidence to the contrary. That's fine; obviously you can do as you wish. But since I've proven you completely wrong with this post, I shan't bother continuing to debate this particular "issue" (if it even qualifies as that).

Say what you want Mark but I saw the chain of events that lead up to its locking which were all too similar in the several editions (parts) of the Madelaine threads closed in GD at the time.

I'm not saying I'm 100% correct but the reasons given by me were a major factor in its locking otherwise it would have happened ages ago.

End of discussion from me.

Can you really not see the difference?

The "Madelaine"(sic) threads were locked and a warning about starting new threads was posted. It was not a case of the thread being locked and a new one being started by splitting off the last 2/3 posts.

Quite how you reach that conclusion I don't know...it's when it reaches a certain number of posts that it's split off into a new thread.

Simple fact: you are wrong. That's it.

Anyway, to get back on-topic, whilst the BBC had "roving reporters" keeping an eye on what was happening in England on transfer deadline day, it sometimes took them several hours to report news from Scotland.

It also took them 50 minutes to have news of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup draw. Would that really have happened with the Carling Cup?

Well, yes actually. Unless it's a very quiet news day they generally wait until the sport to announce Carling Cup fixtures. Therefore if the draw is made 50 minutes before the sports news is due, you will have to wait that long. Better to go online if you want to know fixtures quickly.

That's what I meant: it took 50 minutes for the website to be updated...

Isn't it strange how our National Broadcaster hasn't been on the ball letting us know about this poll, i would have thought they would have wanted to tell us all about how the public's opinion has been changing.

http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news...on_Megrahi.php

Seems they only like to report polls which show the SNP and Scotland in a bad light. Having watched the coverage during the past week or so, i've concluded that the BBC (News both TV and web) has become nothing more than a propaganda tool used to further the Unionist cause.

I had a low opinion of the BBC news before, now it's rock bottom, it's about as fair and balanced as Fox news.

OK, here we go...

England are playing a friendly tomorrow; Scotland, Wales and NI are all in competitive action.

And yet take a look at the Football homepage...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/default.stm

Screengrabbed in case it "mysteriously" changes:

Of course they biased, biased towards the left, not England, though.

Remember, we are not the 'default' nation

And then when we do get to Scotland, we have this as the title:

"Scots select McManus & McFadden"

Would we ever see an article entitled "English select Rooney and Crouch"?

So what else is it when Scotland is referred to in that manner?

Using the word "Scots" is third-person, in the same way that you would report on "the French", "the Germans", "the Dutch"...it's used when referring to a nation outside of your own.

So why has it happened on the BBC website?

Wins tonight for both England and Wales Under 21, with Wales being Italy, hopefully our superb win will get the credit it deserves.

Once again Mark makes some wonderful points, and some great comments.

Once again Jack does his utmost best to defend the indefensible EBC with his non-stick teflon suit on

The EBC continually refers to Scotland, Wales, etc, in the third person, like we are some foreign nation to them. Of course, we all know the real reason is that we are not the default nation.

On the football page you have a link to Scottish Premier, Scottish League (I'm assuming they mean the various leagues of the SFL ...funny how the Championship, League One, etc, get their own page) and Scottish Cups. Yep, Scottish Cups, no chance of a page for each one, we'll just cram it all in one page for those foreign jocks! Oh sorry Jack, i forgot, i should be thinking UK, shouldn't i!!

No, he's once again speaking the truth, coming up with cracking example, and you are once again just sitting there returning random comments because you can't actually come up with a decent reason to justify what the Eeeb does!
