After a few fairly heavy reads I fancied something a bit lighter and decided to pick up a Sophie Kinsella book for the first time - Confessions of A Shopaholic.
I'm not really a fan of chick lit but having seen trailers for the film, I thought it might be quite amusing and I must admit I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm whizzing through it!!
Might try a few more of her books after this.

The Dreamers - Gilbert Adair

(This is the revised version of Adair's The Holy Innocent's, which he was unhappy with)

Working my way through David Baldacci's 'back catalogue' at the moment, and just finished 'Absolute Power' - a really good read, had to stay up late to finish it which is usually a good sign. Always fascinating to read thrillers written in the mid 1990s that fail to mention the internet or mobiles even though they had both been around for some time. Unfortunately the advent of both of those things, has made a lot of authors lazy IMO when it come to plot lines nowadays.

Anyone know the first novel to mention the internet per chance?

Finished Frank Skinner's "On the Road". A really profound and interesting book. A good insight into the craft of preparing for a stand-up tour. But its Skinner's honesty that shines through - his insecurities, his faith and his uneasiness. Profound in places. Really good to see there's more to him than the cheeky chappie persona.

"Hidden Dimensions: The Unification of Physics and Consciousness" by B. Alan Wallace.

Quote:
Bridging the gap between the world of science and the realm of the spiritual, B. Alan Wallace introduces a natural theory of human consciousness that has its roots in contemporary physics and Buddhism. Wallace's "special theory of ontological relativity" suggests that mental phenomena are conditioned by the brain, but do not emerge from it. Rather, the entire natural world of mind and matter, subjects and objects, arises from a unitary dimension of reality that is more fundamental than these dualities, as proposed by Wolfgang Pauli and Carl Jung.

Just starting Peter Hamilton "The Dreaming Void" and finishing Roy Osherove "The Art of Unit Testing".

I always like to be reading a one fiction and one non fiction book
