The Tennis Thread (Part 5)

Just when I think I couldn't like him any more than I do:

Quote:
Marat Safin on criticism of his sister Dinara: "Everybody is giving her hard time. 'Why is she number one?' 'Is she a real number one or not?' 'She made eight double faults, 43 unforced errors.' 'She struggled, almost lost to an 18-year-old.' Who cares? I mean, she's number one in the world. On this ranking, she's number one. Serena, even though she won two Grand Slams this year, she's number two. Sorry, but that's the way. Deal with that."

More from Safin on Dinara: "Personally, I'm really like, I have to protect her. She deserves a little bit more than what she's getting right now. You can't imagine how crazy she is about sport. I don't think there is one person in the world more professional than her."

I was wondering how long it would be until the mods split this thread. Good play there from Simon to save the break points against him

The US Open will do - Kim on course for a meeting with Venus if Kim beats Flipkens and Venus beats Magdalena Rybarikova

Same here it'd make life a lot easier for Murray should he get to the QF.

I must be the only one on this thread that actually likes Delpo...

I just like his quirky mannerisms, the thing he does to his shorts (although I haven't seen him do that for a while), his slow stroll up to the line to see if the ball was in/out. I find him quite funny.

He's not a bad tennis player either.

How come they are showing replays of the Safin and Nadal matches aswell as the Del Potro game on two channels but not showing the Hewitt match?

Federer under pressure there, a couple of set points down and he just brings out the big serve. He's now broken Greul and will be serving for the set himself.

Do like John Lloyd's commentary with his insights into the game and interesting info. Watching a match earlier with a couple of US commentators and it was dire.

I can't remember which match it was earlier but i had to press the mute button as i couldn't put up with their comments anymore, i've had to do that 3 times today actually

Even though fed in 1-4 down in this set I still think he will come back and win it. He just took his foot off the pedal, however Gruel is playing really well.
