Glee -- Season 1 (US Pace)

Strange, I would have thought that with all the interest in Glee that has been demonstrated on this forum that FM's here would be champing at the bit to watch and write about the first new episode of Glee since the May pilot.

Anyway, last night's episode, "Showmance," which Fox is calling the first episode of season 1, was better than the pilot. With the need to set up and establish all out of the way, the show really just takes off, and the actors look more comfortable in their roles. Favourite part: the revelation about what Finn thinks about when he does not want to ejaculate prematurely. I could not stop laughing.

thought the pilot was better but still loved it! they need to work on the art of making it look like they are actually singing the songs though. Golddigga had just wierd dubbing.

In terms of the music, Take A Bow and Push It have just been released, Golddigger has been available for a little while now, and obviously episode one had Rehab, Don't Stop Believing, On My Own and Can't Fight This Feeling. Looking forward to seeing what will be released for episode 3. I've seen the track list for the first soundtrack and I can't WAIT for some of them.

But yes, I really liked this episode. I've been looking forward to it for so long I was a bit worried but it was really good. As the OP mentioned, what Finn thinks about to stop himself getting too excited And Emma singing in the car!

Also loved the names of the pamphlets in Emma's office :
Ouch! That Stings!
Divorce: Why Your Parents Stopped Loving You
I Can't Stop Touching Myself
Radon: The Silent Killer
My Mom's Bipolar and she Won't Stop YELLING
Wow! There's A Hair Down There!
So You Like Throwing Up: Understanding and Overcoming Bulimia

If they could cut back a bit on the over-production of some numbers (or even do them in the style of Push It, where the studio version is more than the show version) it would be about perfect!

I thought it was good, definitely more edgier than HSM and does take me back to the days of 'Popular
I cant decide who is the bigger c*** in it though, the evil coach (played excellently by Jane Lynch) or the shrew of a wife.
'Take A Bow' was sung beautifully and she looks a bit like Biffa Cole

After seeing people praise this show for months on here, I finally decided to give it a go and watched the pilot. The writing isn't amazing, it's clichéd as hell but it's probably the first show in ages that managed to make me smile the whole way through. Good stuff.

Strange show, very clichéd plot and musically cringeworthy, but highly watchable thanks to some interesting and quirky (female) characters. I'm not sure how long the formula can last without becoming stale, but for now I'm finding it enjoyable.

wow!

i didnt think it would live up to the hype of DS forumers(i never watched the advanced preview few months ago) but it did! i loved it from start to finish

i love the use of music in TV shows(think greys, one tree hill etc) so this was like overload for me lol

the true test will be episode 2/3 as its gonna be ahrd to keep the entertainment level so high......one would think

great pilot!

I was rather worried that episode two of this could never be as good as the pilot episode but it certainly surpassed my expectations. Loving the continued concentration on the teachers home life and the sordid web of lies his wife has forced herself into regarding the pregnancy. Roll on episode three where we will hopefully see more people join the Glee club and some more bizarre song choices- thought their version of Goldigger was inspired!

Loved the second episode.

The only thing I'd say is that Terri (Will's wife) is a bit too evil too soon and they may be rushing a bit with Rachel and Finn.

But I love Jayma Mays as Emma who is totally endearing (singing alone in the car!), Jane Lynch as Sue and Lea Michele as Rachel (and she's an amazing singer as well). The musical numbers were good, though I did prefer the music from the first episode.

Agree with the above about funny moments. Finn, the pamphlets and the celibacy club as well... I'd bet my car that the crazies at the Parents Television Council name Glee as "worst show of the week" after that!

The scenes with Will, Sue and the headteacher are really funny. Can't wait for episode 3.

I didn't like Rachel singing take a bow...thought it was very over dramatic.
Her and Finn's kiss was very full on though

Not quite as good as the pilot but still really enjoyable! All the performances were great, but like many have said on here there was too much over production which was a shame.
Take A Bow was probably my favourite though or maybe Goldigger. Push It was hilarious .

I was a little bit disappointed that the wife lied to Will about the baby- they've previewed that bit in the adverts for the show and I thought she would own up to not being pregnant. On Tv Squad they said that bit was a little soap-y and I have to agree, hopefully they won't go too far down that road.

Looking forward to the next episode!
