wyvern fm not suited to hit music format??

i dont think wyvern fm is suited to the hit music format, from what i remember from GWR days it was more a older format with playing 70s, 80s, 90s and today the jingle was.

what does everyone think

from what ive been told or hear most listeners are over 35 to 55

Well with new oeners I suspect it won't be a hit musidc format beyond the end of the year. The whole group, with BRMB at its centre, will - I predict - have a newish sound, which probably means some older tunes, if that makes sense!

Nope, the biggest proportion of its reach comes from 15-24's.

We always know how well a radio station is doing by the proportion of workmen who invade our large establishment tuining their radios into them.....

Sunshine radio 3 workmen
Radio 2 - 6 workmen
Wyvern FM - 2 workmen
Classic FM - ?!? - 1 workman, who was listening on a Bang and Olufsen portable radio...

So it's holding it's own at the moment. At least they've stopped that trailer ...the best new music... all the time...

That wouldn't be a very nice thing for him to read. Perhaps you could explain your comment.

The hit music format is a good one and very up-beat, trouble with some of the stations are that the presenters don't suit the format.

I am still convinced Wyvern has the older listeners out of the group of stations. I don't think the hit music format suits the station. It's way too repetitve. Even the older tunes are repeated everyday.

Do we think the stations will go older excluding BRMB?

That might explain why he wasn't on Real network overnights last weekend (i don't know if he was away the couple of weekends before that aswell as i was on holiday).

Steve Jordan was on and never id'd himself as being "in for Simon Walkington". I used to find Simon a decent listen on the long drive home from work on Sat and Sun mornings.

I don't think Mercia should go older as they already got competition from Touch Radio/Rugby FM, Smooth, Heart and Oak FM in Nuneaton/Hinckley. (forget Kerrang). Plus they also got am A.M station 'Gold' that caters for the over 30's.

I have no problems with the 'Hit Music Format' but they have only chosen to separate Beacon Shropshire 103.1 to have a separate music policy in the daytime, Back in the global days it was Wyvern & Beacon Shropshire which was going to become heart.

So whatever your opinion i think the current music policy is better than what the other option could have been.

I think they could do with maybe having a morning network for daytimes between beacon shropshire & wyvern, then bring all the network together in the evenings for Darren Lee , Tall Tim, etc.

Yes , you can get Heart Gloucester and Heart West Midlands here in Worcester. A bit fuzzy at times though.

I worked with Simon for many years and he's an excellent programmer. I think your bad experience says a lot about you and very little about him. I imagine you're incompetent and a bit sh*t at your job.

Good luck to Simon and all at Wyvern FM.

So Dan will only be on Beacon and Mercia from this Monday then?

Just checked the Wyvern schedule and they still haven't updated it yet!

Why do people seem to get the idea that just because a station covers a rural area, it should sound older than a station covering a city?

Is it that loud upbeat music disturbs the peace and quiet of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire countryside?

No it doesn't, although to be fair Wyvern does get the largest proportion of its hours from 45-54's.

But in terms of bums on seats, only Mercia has a stronger 15-24 bias than Wyvern.

On the other hand, BRMB and Beacon's reach and hours are dominated by 35-44's. So, if anything, Beacon and BRMB would be the prime candidates to skew older, although I can't imagine they'd do that.
