The Big Bang Theory - Season 3 - (US Pace)

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for this as I am really looking forward to its return this coming Monday. See below for a few tid bits for the series that I have picked up from various sites round the net:

spoiler:

It has been confirmed that Penny and Leonard FINALLY get together this series. But it isn't quite what they expected.

The guys apparently come back from the North Pole with beards which get a funny reaction from Penny.

Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher from TNG) will be guest staring at some point in the series.

The first episode will be called - "The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation" - Sheldon flees back to Texas in disgrace when he learns the guys tampered with his arctic expedition data, forcing the guys to follow him and threatening Leonard's hopes for a romantic encounter with Penny,

There is now a Twitter page for TBBT if you are into that sort of thing: http://twitter.com/BigBang_CBS

And lets not forget that Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) is nominated for the Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series at the forthcoming Emmys (Sept 20th).

Roll on the new series!

I can't wait for this. Which is a shame since I'm in stupid Britain. Hope someone puts it up on YouTube.

I can't see those spoilers

I love this show! One of the most intelligent comedies ever to originate from the good old U S of A.

Anyone know when it starts in Britain? The second season repeats just ended, and for some reason they did a double bill this week instead of one like normal. Did they finish it quicker because they're going to start the new season soon?

No idea to be honest. I would have expected them to have advertised the fact if they were going to play it quite soon.

I am inpatient waiting for us the get US tv these days so I'll be finding it elsewhere on Tuesday morning.

If you mean you don't know how to see them, left click the mouse either above or below the grey bits then while still holding the button down, scroll over the grey and the words will be revealed...if you mean you can't see them because you don't want to see spoilers then I can't help you there

Also can't wait until Tuesday, will be getting the episodes as soon as possible! Can't see E4 showing it until early next year to avoid the mid season breaks. I remember last year they showed the first 10 episodes before Christmas but then started showing the series again from the start around February because of the US breaks

The theme tune is on mine, it starts at about 2:20 just after Raj says "Yeah it was first come first serve".

The theme tune never has been right at the start of the episode. It is always a couple minutes in.

Overall I was very impressed by the first episode in this season, shows they made the right decision to commit to another new season after this one ends.

Some great one liners and some brilliant facial expressions from Jim Parsons (Deserved the emmy IMO)

And now I'm waiting for the new Two and a Half Men!

That bit had me in stitches. Must say most of what Raj says usually has me in stitches, he may be a man of few words but when he does speak he isn't half funny.

Jnacool > I agree Jim parsons deserved the emmy, but saying that I haven't seen 30 Rock and Alec Baldwin's performance in that so I am a bit bias.

No need for spoiler tags, this is US pace thread.

Great to have these guys back.

Some classic lines...

"Take off the hat"
"I'm trying to blend in..."
"In to what, Toy Story?!"

"Leonard - it's weird"
"Totally"

"I missed Comic Con AND the new Star Trek?!"

I have the same copy. It's also missing the whole opening segment that comes before the titles - about 2min 15sec of footage. You can find the missing bit on YouTube if you have a search around.

Love this show and definitely don't think it's gone off the boil based on the jokes and one-liners in this episode, but in the past with sitcoms I've often found that when the two characters that are always about to get together - but never do - actually get together it can really mess with the harmony of the show and turn it a bit dull. As in the real world, the chase is often more fun than the catch, as it were (!)

I was frankly a bit disappointed when Penny locked her lips to Leonard's about thirty seconds into the entire series. Let's hope it's a bit more exciting than that.

Good start to the third season.

“I realise that you are currently at the mercy of your primitive biological urges but as you have an entire lifetime of poor decisions ahead of you, may I interrupt this one?"

Also loved the prayer and Sheldon's mother "A girl? Oh good, I've been prayin for ya" as well as the lines already mentioned in this thread.

If they get a post Superbowl episode (and I really hope they do), I hope they do it as the parents colliding and have Christine Baranski (Leonard's mother) back as well. Chuck Lorre seems to have brought back his old favourites to play the parents and they both play the roles perfectly.

And the one with Baranski was possibly my favourite episode from the first two seasons.

Yeah, that's my concern. I don't mind "on and off" but when they're on again, off again, on again, off again it can get tiring. They need to be careful about that one. Penny is a good character in her own right without the whole relationship. In fact, she's better than Leonard, IMO. Largely because of the love/hate thing between her and Sheldon (the two best characters on the show). It's probably Leonard who is the one without a story or running joke apart from fancying Penny.

I was actually surprised they got together so quick, I thought they'd go for the obvious and Penny would have a new boyfriend.

I think we all know that whenever TBBT ends, Leonard and Penny will end up together. Everyone knew that about Friends with Ross and Rachel, but even they had a few seasons in the middle where they were quite firmly "off". And with Daphne and Niles, you knew once they were together that was it, and Fraiser was never quite the same.

"Okay... Dookey!"

I thought the second episode was stronger.

You can see they are really enjoying writing for Sheldon now. He just gets more interesting and out-there every week...

"I sense I've crossed some sort of line... "

As for the Penny/Leonard saga... I'm undecided on this. Lets see where it heads. I do agree that getting two main characters of a show together can sometimes mess with the overall harmony. That said, I think that the fact that the other three are just so damn watchable on their own, it might just work.

Some classic Raj moments this week, too:

"I don't agree with Indian food... Ironic, isn't it?"
"I wonder what the non-pathetic people are doing tonight!"
"I'm from New Dehli!"

Season 3 is as good as first two so far. Some very funny moments from all of the gang. I like the way Penny and Leonard is being handled but I'm not sure I want them to turn into Ross and Rachel.

I love that line

Also loved Sheldon's "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested" and the mental image of Sheldon being chased up a tree by a chicken
