Englands Champions Tour Squad has been selected for ages, about 3 weeks I think

Champions Trophy Squad/ODI squad: Andrew Strauss (captain), James Anderson, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Joe Denly, Eoin Morgan, Graham Onions, Matt Prior, Adil Rashid, Owais Shah, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright

They are delaying announcing the SA squads until after the ICC Trophy. Can't think why...........

Nothing is scheduled yet as far as I know. Not even named the squad - probably will do at the same time as the test squad is announced as I imagine there'll be one or two "demotions".

Well I was more thinking along the lines of If the Lions also go to South Africa at the same time as the Full squad Why don't England Full Squad only name 12/13 players and then have players as back up from the Lions team. This will give the back up members a chance of a bit of form rather than sitting looking grim and carrying drinks? The coaches can also take a few players who have missed out on the Lions team to get some training in and as back up as well?

Well as a cricket fan you will understand that a test squad is totally different to picking a squad for a OD tournament.

Yes, as a cricket fan, I do understand the difference between Tests and ODIs.

But there are a number of players in the ICC trophy squad who's place in the test squad for SA may be affected by their performance in the ICCT. e.g Bopara, Denely, Shah, Sidebottom, Rashid etc. So for instance, if Bopara scores 0, 3, 7 in England's 3 games there's a possibilty that he will not be named in the test squad. However if he scores 172, 112, 100 no. and England make it into the semis (this is all wildly speculative you understand), then quite likely he will get the nod. And there are a number of other players who you could apply similar scenarios to. The selectors have affectively had their hands tied behind their backs in the ODIs v Aus, so they are sensibly keeping their options open.

Lets have everyones predictions for the ICC Champions trophy.

My heart says Pakistan, however I think Australia will win. They seem to be in good form at the moment.

To be honest there is only one match that counts in this tournament, and thats Pakistan V India.

Why has Mike Atherton put David Gower in the best 1 day 11 of all time for England when is Avg is only 30 from 114 matches and just over 3100 runs in total?

Cause Gower and Atherton love to smoke a joint together.

Just fibbing but they both had a similar laid back attitude.
Did he choose Ian Bell?

I have a sneaky feeling that the two teams in the first game of the Champions Trophy will be the same two teams in the last game of the Champions trophy.

I am surprised at a report in today's Telegraph which is very negative about The Champions Trophy, saying it is unloved, and is likely to be the last one.

To me , this is by far the best OD tournament, much better than the World Cup which goes on for ages to eliminate the weaker nations, or any of those tri nation competitions which seem to happen all the time.

Very difficult to pick a winner, though I reckon we can exclude England and The West Indies ( I assume they are back at full strength ).

I will go for a final between Sri Lanka and Australia, and hope Sri Lanka prevail.

I'd go along with that. Sri Lanka as dark horses if their batsmen can perform on the bouncy wickets. We'll be home before the postcards.

Those lesser nations do cause a surprise though

I think if we are to have a t20 world cup then it should replace the CT and alternate years with world cup

Indian batsmen can not play on bouncy wickets, so why do you think they will get to the final

In the past that was probably the case but I don't think so anymore. India have a strong all round ODI and test side and will be very difficult to beat on any surface and that's where the improvement lies.
