Retune Advice Clinic

Right, here goes.

If your channels are in a mess, or channels are missing or you don't know how to retune, or you are suffering from split-NITs and you want to do nasty things to your TV or rip your hair out, this thread is for you:

Post the make and model of your box or TV
Post which region of the UK you are in (so we know if you are post or pre-switchover)
Post the problem

If another forum member can help (perhaps because you've got the same box), post your reply here.

Done the retune and ITV4 has vanished. I did read that some households would lose ITV3 and ITV4 however I can still view ITV3.

Any advice on how to get ITV4 back?

Hi wizard_uk.

Can you get Ideal World and TMF on your television? These channels are carried on the same multiplex (group of channels) as ITV4.

If you are receiving from Sutton Coldfield, it's been widely reported that the multiplex carrying these channels (Multiplex D) is the hardest to receive.

ITV4 is on Multiplex D -- the hardest to receive multiplex from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter, which you are possibly receiving from. You may wish to try an amplifier/booster. You may wish to consult a local aerial company for local reception advice.

From around September 2011, all channels will broadcast at higher powers after switchover. Any amplifiers/boosters installed now may not be needed.

If anyone else can provide more advice, please post.

I've re-tuned, but ITV3 and ITV4 are blank, with a blue banner at the bottom of the screen saying 'channel has been removed from service offer.'

GRP6000, split NIT problems, never had an OAD, and now the DVD will not display (though it will load, play, fast forward etc). Not expecting anything from this one.

A booster is already being used, why did they decide to shift ITV4 to this mux if it is that hard to receive? It's buggered up any chances of watching the conclusion to the BTCC on Sunday.

After rescanning can you find ITV3/4 in the 800s or somewhere at the back of the channel list?

Try this site to see what you should get.

I entered the post code for the tourist board at Colwyn bay and this is the results page that came up, not good at all.

http://www.tvretune.co.uk/postcodech...vflm45a2f31p42

But a postcode in Llandudno came upo with better results

http://www.tvretune.co.uk/postcodech...L30+1LW/NA/0#]

So it would depend where in North Wales you are.

It's also worthwhile checking if Score can get QVC/Bid TV and Ideal World/TMF. Score: if you can get these channels, ITV3 and 4 should be there somewhere.

From later this year your area is going digital, you will unfortunately have to retune again when the high-powered Freeview service reaches your area.

I've got a hitatchi digital tv that up until this morning had the bbc channels were blocking and ch5 was fine.
Now the bbc channels are just snow ch5 and everything else is still all good.

I'm getting picture from Whitehawk transmitter in brighton.

Weren't they doing some of this so that millions of people would be able to receive ch5 for the first time. My analogue ch5 is worse than normal today as well though I've a feeling that must be purely coincidence.

Each time the bbc mux signal gets stronger my tv seems to rebel against it and the picture gets worse until like now you can't see or hear a thing.

I've got the aerial split via amp going to my toppy and the toppy's fine, well unless you class it having the majority of channels in 4 figures though in actual fact this rescan has given me back some 2 and even 1 digit channels.

Anyone have anything similar happening to the bbc channels.

I've now got ITV4 on channel 24, but no ITV3 anywhere, and I've noticed that I've also lost Fiver, Five USA and Virgin1.

My Thomson 500gb PVR has since rescanning stopped working completely and now just has a red flashing light. I am not sure if this is a Top Up Tv issue or the box has died with the excitement of the retune.

On my Phillips DVDR 7250H I can't get ITV3, Virgin 1 or Quest. All these are fine on other boxes and TVs.

I've got all the channels you've mentioned, and I've found ITV4. Has ITV3 moved numbers, as that could be the reason I haven't got/can't find it.

Thanks.

I can't get those on the same model as you've got. Can you get Fiver or Five USA?
