Torchwood season 4 'in discussion?'

Had a quick look at the posts in here, and didn't spot anything though about the JB interview up on Digitalspy today where he says that they're talking about Torchwood season 4 and then, later on, when he's talking about what he's doing for the next year he mentions that he's already got a period 'reserved' in his diary for Torchwood.

That was never really in doubt after the success of COE; the real questions are what sort of format will it take and how long away will it be. At this stage it would be next Summer before they'd start shooting and early 2011 before it could air.

I think they should go with his idea of 13 eps but cut into 2 or 3 "chunks"

I actually agree with that as well. Also one Idea that they could do is have the 13 eps as series 1 and 2 have one part cover one story for six eps (weather it's six days six weeks) then the second set of six work on another story however have something which would then bring both together at the end in the 13th one.

So for example have the first story dealing with the fallout of COE and the rebuilding of torchwood as they are dealing with a new alien threat which brings back Jack now after dealing with the lost of Ianto and his grandson Stephen (Or Steven I cannot remember how they dealt with the spelling.) and we have Jack back however still unsure about his place on earth.

Second story could be showing jack suffering for his actions in COE once he has returned to earth and maybe being haunted by HIS past (sort of the Buffy Story Conversations with Dead People but with something Alien and evil)

Then its relieved that in the final part of the second story that it's whatever Alien and it does whatever and the final story which links them back together is the battle of this alien.

Thats something quickly off the top of my head of how I would look to take the 4th Series of Torchwood

2011 would be good if they wanted Tennant to cameo as the tenth Doctor. Just to allow Matt Smith 2 seasons broadcast to establish himself as the current incarnation.

No reason he couldn't cameo, time travel means the Tenth Doctor can appear in a place after the present day when he regenerated. And he's already appearing in SJA!

Even two series' later, it will still seem like the ghost of the Tenth Doctor is still lingering about if he appeared even in TW....I personally feel that there needs to be a very huge gap of years before Tennant ever returns to any kind of cameo in WhoUniverse....

Glad to know about a possible series 4 of TW though

I think TW has proved it doesn't need a gimmicky appearance from The Doctor by now. Personally I am not overly keen on the idea of The Doctor appearing in TW, even if it were a retrospective performance by David.

No they don't....TW is very much a show of its own now.....in series 1, I loved every mention or reference to the Doctor, and hoped for them too, in series 2 it was great as well, in series 3, I was looking forward to the mention of the Doctor by Gwen which we had seen in the trailers, but as the week went on, I was too engrossed in the story to care if there was a mention or not....

i hope not. love the welsh accent on telly i think the setting helps, but as long as they don't set it in 'London' then i think we will be okay. it works rather well when it almost enclosed in its own little cardiff bubble, we have DW for the big whole world battles. not that im knocking CoE which was awesome but well i like the almost cosy-ness of it, if that makes any sense at all.

How about a retrospective performance by, e.g., Paul McGann? It's about as likely as a retrospective performance by Patrick Troughton, of course, but it'd be much more interesting. And I guess he wouldn't know who Torchwood were, but Torchwood would know who he was (seeing as they have all those files and suchlike).

I'm just not personally keen on having The Doctor appear in TW period, I feel that it has worked hard to make it a seperate show in the same universe, as soon as any Doctor appered it would undo all that and they would be back at square one. That isn't to say that it isn't a shame that Paul hasn't been used more in the role (outside of the audios, of course).

This may sound a little far-fetched or even stupid but I think Series 4 is going to open with the hub being rebuilt by the rift.

I think series 4 will see Torchwood being rebuilt but RTD has said that he doesn't want to replace dead characters in the next series, so we might not get another Doctor or Tech Geek in a regular role, series 4 will still be quite different to series 1 and 2.

An 'insider' has suggested that S4 will probably be another mini-series because of the success of COE and because RTD doesn't want to go backwards in terms of format with half the cast now being gone.

Another possibility is they could end up in Torchwood in a paralell universe. If I remember rightly, Rose works there.

I don't know if it needs to be Petes World to see 10.2 and/or Rose in a Torchwood. After all easy enough for RTD to bring them back ..

I just think David and John are such a good pairing -were it to happen RTD would make sure the two Torchwoods could crossover.

Was that some where in Scotland?
Also what about TW from Victorian times, we have already seen CP in that era.

I agree, also The clone Doctor Is the only realistic way that Tennant will be come back, that's why it was done at the End Of Season 4 in the first place, unless RTD decides to throw a curveball and kill off the Clone Doctor. That Evil man he will won't he

I'd like to see a Torchwood which focused on the "lost Torchwood 4" and didn't have any of the characters we've seen so far at all.

A brand new location, brand new cast and a different Torchwood culture in the same that Torchwood London and Torchwood Cardiff had very different cultures from each other.

That way we get totally away from any echoes of dead characters and no danger of any Gwen

Paul Ross needs to lay off the Crack Pipe. Even if there is more Torchwood it'll be late 2010 / early 2011 before it airs.
