In Treatment (Sky Arts)

Is anyone going to watch this series? It starts on Monday at 10pm on Sky Arts and stars Gabriel Byrne as a psychotherapist.

The premise is that it's on every weekday for 9 nine weeks, with recurring characters (patients) for each day. So every Monday is one patient, every Tuesday is a different patient, and so on...

The first two episodes are currently on Sky Anytime, which I watched this morning. The first patient didn't really capture my interest that much - self-absorbed woman with relationship issues who's in love with the therapist - but the second guy was quite interesting (Iraq war vet who killed 16 innocent teenagers and has issues with taking responsibility for his own actions) and it'll be interesting to see where that goes.

So is anyone else going to watch?

to be honest, its one of the best acted and well written shows of all time.

i pray u stick with it! its genious and takes only a couple of weeks to get into.

the lady from day 1 is an awesome character, so is the guy from day 2, the girl from day 3, the couple from day 4 can get boring, but day 5 is excellent.

series 2 is also awesome

Cheers, I'll put it on series link on Sky+.

One question though - do therapists really offer half-hour sessions? By the time you take your coat off and get comfy on the sofa, it's time to start wrapping it up!

I will be watching. For some reason the trailers make it seem quite compelling.

I have already added it to my jam packed Monday night planner lol, I love Gabriel Bryne in any guise and as other people have said, the trailer does seem to draw you in.

Looking forward to it

I've been watching this and really enjoying it. Glad I stumbled across the first 2 eps on Sky Anytime otherwise I'd have missed it.

I'm finding all of the characters quite interesting and there is some quality acting.

By the way, to the person who asked about the sessions being so short: I wondered about that too. When I used to go, once upon a time, the session lasted for 50 minutes. Maybe there are shorter ones though, I don't know.

Anybody watch tonight's episode? Some absolutely stunning acting from Gabriel Byrne and Michelle Forbes.

Loving this series. Only got interested because of Gabriel Byrne, but it is so so good. Great writing, great acting, no rushing of the story lines yet absolutely engrossing. A classy piece of tv.

Very very good

We Sky+ it and tend to watch 2 or 3 in a row. Very compelling stuff.

Anyone know how many weeks it is on for ?

Anyone still watching In Treatment? Taken me a while to get into it but I'm glad I've stuck with it.

Tonight's episode with Sophie was incredibly powerful. The young girl who plays her is an astonishing actress.

The Laura/Alex storyline is interesting as well - the couple storyline is the less compelling one for me so far, but that's showing signs of hotting up too.

Only problem is that I go away for 3 weeks in November, and will have 15 episodes to catch up when I'm back (as well as everything else I've recorded!)

Me! It's required viewing in my house.

Agree last nights episode was fantastic - she is an amazing young actress. Did she take the pills or not? I guess we'll find out tonight. I love Alex and Laura too - it's great writing how they've explored the depths of both characters. Alex came into the first session seemingly cocky and self assured but is actually totally screwed up. And Laura is fascinating too - she really turns things back on Paul and shows how screwed up he is. The married couple are the least interesting but I don't think we've learnt as much about them as the others yet - so maybe that'll happen in the next couple of weeks.

Gabriel Byrne is just sublime - as the tortured and confused man. I love the way it shows how the therapist is just as lost as his clients. And on a shallow level I could listen to that soft, lilting Irish accent all day and all night. No wonder Laura is in love with him.

I've been watching this slowly as it's on my extremely clogged up planner! I've only seen the first 6 episodes so far but I think it's fantastic. Totally different format to anything else I've watched and you really don't notice the fact that there are usually only two characters in each episode as it's so engaging. I'm glad I've still got loads to watch! Fabulous stuff!

Brilliant show. I can't wait to find out what happens with Laura.

Great to hear that a third series has been commissioned.

Lovin' that search function

I do like the show but I'm wobbling a bit with it .. can't really get up the enthusiasm to watch it, but when I do I end up being completely engrossed with it.

I'm still with it - I am finding it more and more absorbing in fact. It gets me like a novel does in that a lot of the characters are only talked about so you have to do quite a lot of work as the audience to picture it all in your mind. I do find it intense and if you watch more than 2 or 3 episodes at a time on Sky+ it can really stay with you. I'm really sad that it gets such poor viewing figures - I know a lot of people haven't found Sky Arts yet but it's a shame BBC4 don't get the Repeat rights so that it can be brought to a wider audience. It's so good to be treated as an audience with a bit of intelligence for a change!

It's interesting to note that the first season in the US was stripped Monday thru Friday as Sky Arts are showing it.

Season two was shown two episodes back to back on Sunday and the other three on Monday.
