The reviews are good for non-techies, but I feel they dont give the kind of review techies are after. And Suzi Perry is HOTT.

It used to be excellent - but the past couple of series have been pretty rubbish IMHO...

In fact, it seems they seem to have resorted to nicking ideas from Mythbusters (attempting to fly a plane with no experience, and scaling a wall with nothing but a rig with suckers and a vacuum)

Not many reviews of actual gadgets, and too much dicking about. Bring back the old days!

Ah Suzi-lookatmylegs-Perry, sure she's attractive but have you noticed how they include numerous angled shots of her just so you can see her legs? How about this week, a gadget is in her boots so you can look at her legs. Watch how many times the opening shot is a camera travelling along the floor towards her and Jason and it pans up her legs to show them them both. If I were a female TV presenter I would like to think people watched me for more than my looks.

Problem with this show is that it's very much a marmite show - you either love it or hate it.

If you want a serious or even reasonably serious gadget show, look elsewhere.

It's an entertainment show about gadgets - that's why it works so well.

Me, personally, I love it - one of the best things on telly for me. I think the chemistry between all the presenters is terrific and I think getting Ortis Deeley in instead of Dallas was a masterstroke.

If it was a more tech based show, it wouldn't have a prime time slot on Monday at 8pm and it would probably be buried away on a Saturday morning.

So watch it for what it is - not what you want it to be.

It is a very superficial show, and is all biased towards the Cupertino Fruit Company.

Love Jason, Love Otis, Love Suzi, Love Jon..... one of the best presenting teams on TV IMO...and wipes the floor with the fake camaraderie of Bang Goes The Theory....although Jason's attempt at climbing up a glass building last week wasn't as successful as that bloke on BGTT last month...

Somebody in the other thread said tabloid tv at its best and i fully agree.

They don't care about getting the facts right or the fact they can't go a show without 20 plugs to Apple.

I would also rather have Gail back over Suzi.

I always feel "part 2" of The Gadget show is the best.

It starts with Jon's review and usually contains a Top 5 and the "Wall of Fame".

The "challenges" do my head in though.

I agree, it's something you could probably do once or twice a series, but it really becomes rather contrived a predictable anymore than that.

I find the I phone stuff boring as I have no interest even though I am getting a new phone soon.

They just cost way to much and then you have to again buy the apps

It's not even slightly good. They've got no idea what they are talking about (when they tried to claim that all HDMI cables are the same they made themselves a laughing stock within the AudioVisual industry) and that Jon bloke so clearly wants everyone to call him 'Professor' that it hurts. Utter rubbish.

Oh I dunno, my 12.99 HDMI lead from Sainsburys produces a stunning image on a 46" TV.

Anyhoo, another fan here - I particularly like Ortis' trips to see genuine tech - the virtual reality piece the other week with the huge 2D rolling belt was particularly impressive. I didn't know such a thing existed and is the closest thing to an actual holodeck I've seen.

Yes, the challenges are a bit naff and contrived, and this series has had less of testing things to destruction (symptom of the credit crunch maybe) but overall I try to watch every week.

No, they would have made themselves deeply unpopular in the AV industry. HDMI cables are all the same. They're a massive, massive con. pay any more than £10 for one and you have been done.

That said, TGS is mostly rubbish, but i'm glad they got that right.

Actually, thinking about it, the Ortis-on-a-field-trip segments are the closest to Tomorrows World, when they brought news about up-coming technologies and inventions. Of course, that was before teh interwebs became the fount of all knowledge.

For example, I remember, many years ago (the 80s) a piece on rain-sensing wipers for cars. Obviously that tech has taken a long time to come to market in an affordable way, and in some way TGS Ortis segments reflect that - tech that might take 15-20 years to become commonplace.

Along with Click online as someone mentioned, there are precious few broadcast programmes showing this stuff, so what little there is has to be welcomed.
