Hollyoaks - RIP Sarah Barnes - scariest and most poignant soap death I've ever seen
Sorry but I thought this warranted its own thread.
OMG. I am speechless. That last scene in tonights Hollyoaks later was horrible but so well done. All the actresses involved did a great job. And the music was excellent. That was one of the worst and scariest deaths I've ever seen in a soap. She might not have been everyone's favourite but what a stunning exit for the character. Well done to all involved. I am in shock - that was so powerful. I am clearly going to have a sky-diving nightmare tonight now... |

Absolutely INCREDIBLE.
Props to the three girls who all played their roles brilliantly. I've always liked Sarah and the girl who plays her, and that was fantastic. I am speechless.. I was crying my eyes out and still am! WELL DONE HOLLYOAKS- the scene was sensational. Very hard to watch and very, very sad, but amazing all the same. |

Sarah was never a favourite character of mine, but I thought her death was very sad. Poor Barnesy and Zoe
I really hate Lydia right now.

I just sat and watched it in silence, I didn't move or anything, it was so shocking!
I knew Sarah was the one to die, but oh my god, I didn't expect that! It was so horrible, and I'm usually a dare devil, but after that, I am never, under no circumstances, doing a parachute jump. |

I used to like Sarah in the old days when she was a swimmer and dating Rhys.... went off her big time from the Craig stuff onwards though..... Nevertheless what a brilliant exit. I don't think there has been another Hollyoaks exit which has shocked me quite so much since the death of Andy Holt. Omg all that blood in the field though..... It's not that long since there was a realy skydiving death at a place just a few miles from me which kind of brought the storyline home even more to me (even though I didn't know the guy who died... just that it is something which happned in the local area). I did wonder if Hollyoaks took inspiration from that for this storyline as their was a big question over whether it was sabotage/suicide or a genuine accident.

I was crying my eyes out and am still crying now, that was one of the scariest and saddest of soap exits for me.
![]() It was such a brilliant episode though and especially Loui Batley's performance, it was just incredible. The whole thing was totally believable and for a minute I forgot I was watching a soap. ![]() It will definitely be a soap exit to be remembered for a long time to come, now I've seen it I can understand why they couldn't have shown it during the 6:30pm because it was truely terrifying and I felt quite sick watching the final scenes, especially when Sarah realised she was going to die and then when we saw the actual moment she died. I really didn't expect to see that much. ![]() I'm gutted Sarah has died though because it means no possible return for her in the future, shame as she was one of my all time favourite HO characters. Still Loui Batley deserved to leave the show with such a big, memorable exit and she totally did it justice not just in tonights episode but in all of this weeks Later episodes imo. |

I've commented on it in the other thread were I think most people are discussing the scenes. But it truly was exceptional. I didn't think they would show that much. But the viewer got a glimpse of every horrifying thought that must have flashed through her head before impact. Chilling.
And the scenes after it with Mike and Zoe were heart-breaking. |

But very little was left to the imagination. Brilliant and horrible all at the same time. Like I say, one of the most chilling things I've ever seen. |

I agree
I completely agree with your comments, the actors and producers did a fantastic job of the skydive scene. I'm not a fan of the character of Sarah but my heart really did go out to her when that happened. I think that's a clear indication of how much work was put into the development of that scene.
I really hoped it woulda' been Lydia but no such luck, eh? ![]() Oh well. R.I.P Sarah Barnes and as someone else said: She should win an award for that exit; absolutely first class. |

I think I'll watch. Even though I don't watch the show any more. Is it on channel four on demand yet?

WOW! That was dramatic and better than I expected!!
Didn't really like Sarah much but I still felt sad. Definitely a contender for Best Exit at the BSA's next year! |

Never watch HH and never will but for some reason I watched this episode, while i don't claim to understand the plots ect, am i allowed to say the acting and play-out of the scene was fantastic,a very competent and talented actress indeed.

It was a very enjoyable episode for fans and non-fans alike. I'm a bit of a fair weather Hollyoaks fan. I come and I go. I will be watching for the aftermath of this though. The best I have seen this show in a long, long while and the most affecting exit from any of the soaps this year.

Hollyoaks has, for me, been a background show for as while (as in I have it on in the background, but don't make a point of watching it). The last time I can remember being truly gripped was Warren and Louise's wedding day.
Tonights episode of Later though - Wow. Just wow. Those last 10 minutes. I haven't been as moved by it since the one where Tony and Mandy came home and their baby had died. I wasn't expecting us to stick with Sarah the whole way to the thud - I figured we'd see them jump out of the plane, fade to white, fade in to Zoe and Lydia running through the field. Brave (and excellent) choice and acting. And as for the bit with Mike! Bravo |

Definetly the most terrifying death in soap history. Never have I cringed, shouted, stared and felt scared for a character like that. They showed the fall all the way to her hitting the ground.
I was a bit like, oh, a jump to the death. It'll be odd. It was scary! My sister was crying her eyes out. I was shouting 'nooo' like mad just before she hit the ground. I would have prefered the music didn't mask Lydia, Mike and Zoe's reactions but that doesn't matter. POOR SARAH. I know it's fiction but that kinda felt tooo real. |

I'm not an avid Oaks watcher anymore, but I do tune in for the deaths, cos they really do do death and tragedy SO much better than any of the other soaps put together!

Havent really watch H'Oaks much over the course of the last few weeks...
BUT that death was totally WOW! It was extremely realistic... possibly too realistic actually. One of the saddest (if not the) saddest soap death - mainly because we stayed with Sarah until the bitter end... Well done H'Oaks and Loui Batley too... also Zoe Lister and all the rest of em in the final scenes... |
