Hehe yes, beware though, you'll probably wonder where the interesting characters of the books are on screen :P They have misjudged a few characters in my opinion.
They are awesome books
Charlaine Harris is the author.

Re-reading book 3 (club Dead) and if they follow like they have done in the series, should be fantastic. Loving the new additions. Get it made HBO and quick!!!

They have done a pretty good job on some. Andy is just how I imagined him, Lafayette is better than in the books
However don't like the Marianne storyline and Tara is completely different!

They confirmed at Comic Con earlier this year that the cast would be starting shooting Season 3 in December this year, so it'll be back next Summer.

In the meantime Alexander Skarsgard is shooting the remake of Straw Dogs (also in the Southern States of America).

Well, Season One aired from September 7, 2008 to November 23, 2008.

Season Two aired from June 14, 2009 to September 13, 2009. It skipped a week for Labor Day.

I don't see much of a difference in terms of in between time frames.

It's so long to wait until the next series Have been making do with the books and am now up to 6, I've been really enjoying them but they do have a different feel to the series. And I'm missing Bill But they're interviewing Stephen Moyer on BBC Breakfast in a few minutes, may have to be late for work...

And @ Maidenfan666 - I know you were probably going for the shocking spoiler angle, but that's not strictly true is it?

spoiler:
technically he rapes her when he's out of his senses, but it's the betrayal with Lorena that makes Sookie dump him

The whole of the first season has already been shown in the UK on FX. This is the first showing on terrestrial television in the UK.

Spoilering this just in case

spoiler:
Yes, they have a small part in book 2 and a major role in book 3 onwards

Alan Ball has taken basic plots from the book and expanded them, going his own way -
spoiler:
for example Tara is a minor character in the books, the Maenad storyline was shorter etc.

The books tell Sookie's story and the other characters drop in and out of this, while the TV show has an ensemble case and the stories tend to involve more of the main characters
spoiler:
eg Jason is involved in the FotS story on TV but not in the book.

You certainly won't be spoiled too much by reading the books.

Don't take the books too literally when it comes to the series. It's very different. They have changed alot of things.

Series 3 will feature werewolves and they were having a contest to see who the fans wanted cast as Debbie Pelt. http://sookiestackhouse.com/?cat=87
