CMA Awards 2009?

Will any UK broadcasters be broadcasting the country music awards next month?

Usually live on Radio 2 with edited highlights on BBC2. Can't see anything on the BBC website yet but I'll be most surprised if it isn't as usual.

Film 24 isn't owned by Sky/SKY/sky.

Think this will be the first time its been shown in full. Apart from the edited coverage on BBC2 which was usually the weekend after the awards took place there was live coverage on Radio 2 but I believe that's been stopped as well now.

Yep, the 'wonderful' BBC Radio in their wisdom have stopped live coverage. They have replaced it with a 2 hour show on Friday presented by Dale Winton!!!
I just thank God its on the radio and not tv. I think it would be about all I could do to not kick the screen in watching Winton mincing around in cowboy boots and hat!
I will just leave it and wait for the Film24 coverage.
Shame on you BBC.

Country music's biggest night the 43rd CMA Awards taking place in Downtown Nashville is fast approaching. The event will take place on Wednesday 11th November and will air live from the Sommet Centre, in Nashville on the ABC Television Network.
In the UK you will be able to listen to the highlights on BBC Radio on the 13th November, including performances and interviews by Dale Winton.
Also you will be able to watch the awards on Wednesday 18th November on Film
24 at 8pm (Freesat and SKY channel #157).
Please check local listings for any last minute changes.

I emailed them, and was advised by 'David' in their scheduling department that its on Wednesday 18th at 8.00, repeated the following Sunday, and that they've optioned it for the next five years.

He also said that they were aiming to show it live with the USA in 2010, but this years was a 2 hour edited programme, that is being turned around in 3 days.

They're showing a film into it called Road to Nashville, and plan regular country seasons and are actively acquiring Country concerts and films appearently - they've even chartered a plane to get it here for early next week, so UK viewers can see it before any of their European rivals.

Checked the Sky Epg for next Wednesday, and seems true.

Anyone else got any information from them ?

If you want to go posting any results then kindly use spoilers next time for the benefit of those who might prefer to wait until next week to watch the show! Idiot!

I've seen the awards, and it was quite a show!!

Brilliant performances from Zac Brown, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Jamey Johnson. Even George Strait was good (heresy, I know, but I've never really warmed to him for some reason).

Brad and Carrie were superb hosts - they did some very funny little acoustic country clips during some of the links.

And the Little Jimmy Dickens gag had me giggling, too!

I hope there will be more coutry on film24 and I'm going to be contacting them. Can't wait until tonight. I already know the results as I have been all over CMT and country blogs reading up....even blogged about it on my blog do not click if you don't want to find out who won New artist of the year. I'm so chuffed about it. Other than that there isn't any results.

While it was good to see it on UK TV it was heavily edited, Carrie and Brad were more like a comedy duo, but we didn't get to see that, few performances missed out, and 90% of the awards missed out, but its certainly better than nothing, hopefully the full product next year
