Stacey and Lucie cannot sing, worst of the lot?? (Merged)

Stacey and Lucie cannot sing, neither are compelling to watch and both have only there sob-stories to get them through. Lets break this down and look at it rationally and objectively.

Stacey:
- Somewhere over the rainbow

This was not only the single most horrendous and dull song to listen to but it has been covered so many times it is a wonder it doesn't need excavating and re-discovered under all the mulch singers have covered it in. Stacey's rendition showed she could not handle the higher notes and struggled with the phonation of the words plenty times, weather this was because of her thick essex accent or not is uncertain.

- The Scientist

This showed that Stacey does not have the range she is bigged up with, the notes were off key and strained in places as well as the tone placement being out of touch with reality, she collapsed and let us see how much of a fraud in singer terms she is. She can only sing certain songs after she has practised them for years, this shows she does not have the durability or stamina very long which means it is better if she left the competition. Her rendition of the song was also very contrived and uninspiring as it didn't disguise the fact that she cannot sing like some others.

As well as these, Stacey acts when the camera pans to her during her interview with Dermot. She goes from standing still looking normal to the sweet as cherry Stacey, bopping her head around and smiling uncontrollably! The whole act is very well put together but the camera work needs some practise to cover up the transition from the council-chav to 'silly stacey'. For this reason though she should leave the competition because she is not being honest with us or herself, contrived and false.

Lucie:
- I will always love you

The song was poorly constructed and only exposed Lucie's lack of vocal talent, factually. She struggled like Stacey to hit the big notes and the transition from chest to head was foul. Bum notes sprinkled with no charisma or interest gave us fact - no diversity will limit her song choices and eventually break her down through pressure.

- Footprints in the sand

There was no originality or style in her voice and this song showed she can not to runs or trills without breaking, her bridging is poor and the fact she tried to cover Leona factually presented us with an insight into what she is, a copy cat and fraud of the highest order.

Lucie's also relied on her little lost lamb act like Stacey to get herself through but underneath the facade there is little else to her in terms of star quality and range.

Both will sing ballards every week and take up valueble air time for the other, more substantiated acts. Both are jealous and scared of getting kicked out and this will be revealed in the coming weeks and I for one will enjoy every moment of it.

Thanks for listening.

Nothing of what you said was rational or objective, all subjective and predicting. Odd considering the two girls are among the two favourites but hey whatever floats your own boat.

I don't get the Stacey thing. I think she's mediocre at best. But I do think Lucie has a nice voice. It's not a big voice but it's very pleasant to listen to. She's also got that whole Kristen Stewart look going on which'll stand her in decent staid.

Problem is, I don't think people are warming to Lucie at all. Shame, she's got a voice I'd like to hear more of. There are far too many big voiced Leona types around right now.

Staceys personality will keep her in for a long time. She already has a big fanbase

Ridiculous comments. The only ones this year who you could accuse of not being able to sing are John and Edward.

Personally I can't stand Stacey and Lucie is one of my favourites, but being objective I would never say Stacey "can't sing". She is very ordinary and the huge publicity she has received before the live shows (in comparison to some of the other finalists) has probably helped to put me off her, but she can definitely carry a tune. The personality strikes me as totally fake and exaggerated as she has realised people like the ditzy Essex airhead act for some inexplicable reason so is taking it to extremes.

Lucie's problem is that she is more of a classical singer being forced to sing pop songs. Reminds me of Cassie from the first series.

I suppose the OP is a fan of John and Edward? lol.

The unfortunate fact is that it will be incredibly difficult for any girl performer to live up to Alexandra, and even moreso Leona.

Simon proved yesterday that he wasn't a great fan, and it was almost suicidal for Dannii to pick a Leona track for Lucie because she was never going to live up to her.

Neither Lucie or Stacey were off-key last night IMO. Lucie's song was a bit big for her but she did a good job and was unfairly compared to Leona. Stacey was lovely

No, you are wrong this is all objectively looking at things rationally. Please address my points as above regarding Lucie and Stacey with your opinion and we can see where you are going wrong. Thanks.

There is nothing operatic about Lucie's so called singing at all.

It is clear for all to see on multiple songs that she has struggled to sing up in her head voice, as well as bridge those notes as she comes down, she is clearly punching above ehr weight and she'll need the biggest and best pop filter and largest wind shield available to sort out the strain she has trying to control her breath.

I agree with this.

Didn't think Stacey or Lucie were off-key last night. Lucie's song was perhaps too big but I still think she put in a very lovely performance.

I didn't say operatic, I said classical - she is far too young to judge whether she could move into opera or not yet but I doubt it as her voice is not that big. She is certainly the best of the female contestants this year though. She just doesn't have a "pop" voice and that, in my opinion, is a good thing.

Stacey was horribly flat at the start of her song. Only criticism I would have of Lucie's performance is that in places the song seemed a little low for her but there were no tuning problems.

I just read the first few lines and laughed.

Sorry, I don't agree at all. You've probably made the one post where I disagreed with everything there.

Kristen Stewart is a film star that already exists, the pop industry does not need a tribute-act like Lucie but rather a stand alone, unique artist that will bring something to the table every week.

She isn't being herself up there and if she was and didn't do a lot of over the top movements and stuff then she could do really well. This is the most important part of her performance.

Lucie is just another fish in the small pond and is the sort of person that would stab you in the back when she has finished using you, her personality is non existent and she can't rely on the Lamb tale forever.

They can sing, they just need songs in their key & range but becuase everyones bouncing across genres over the next few weeks, some will be lacking more than others.

Can you argue that is objective? You haven't got a clue what they are thinking.

Yet both are two of the favourites, I find them compelling, I enjoy watching them perform. Sob stories, iv'e never heard either of the sob over their lives. Why would we pity them?

I don't mind you having your opinion but stating them as facts and telling us what is good and what is bad is ridiculous. I'm no musical expert but if i'm no less of a judge.

People want to believe Stacey is a great singer because they love her bubbly personality but the truth is she is pretty average. She will stay in for a while though cos she is popular with the public. Lucie did not blow me away either, i expected more from her.

LOL

Lucie's presence is virtually non existent when she performs on stage, if it weren't for the wind machine set to max blowing her hair about she may as well have jumped on the current and drifted off back to her village in the middle of no where, because that is what she is at the moment.

Her vocals are pitchy and inconsistent and she is on borrowed time, the ballards will soon rub viewers the wrong way.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow?

Um, Stacey sang 'What a Wonderful World' in her audition. Unless you are referring to something else? Did she sing SOTR at boot camp or something?

^^ Why do you think Lucie would stab you in the back ? She seems like a sweet girl to me.

I think she can sing but the song was too big for her. If Dannii's going to insist on giving her Whitney/Mariah/Leona songs, then they'll need to change the song to suit so Lucie doesn't have to go for the really big notes. In short, she can't, her voice just doesn't lend itself to that.

Stacey can sing but seems to have little control over her voice when the notes are lower. I'm not bowled over by her. I'm sure she's a nice person but I can't help but find her irritating.... maybe she's nervous too.
