What's The Best Footy Management Game On PC?
What is the best footy management game on the PC? I want a game which has a PERFECT match view, as I am not too keen on just text based match action.
I do have Football Manager 06, but again, I want a game where you get the kind of 3D, multi-angled match views that are comparable to those of EA Sports Fifa series. Is Champ Manager 2010 any good? I believe that has a 3D match view, but then again, some reviews have said that this has certain defects. |

I'd wait and see what Football Manager 2010 is like. I own 2006 and 2008, and they're great barring the match engine. Playing 2009 with a friend, I'm not too impressed by the 3d engine.
I bought Championship Manager 2010 with its pay what you like offer, and while impressed it's not perfect either. Its 3d match engine is good and superior to FM's, but it attempts to offer a similar but very different experience to FM at the same time, and fails to some extent. E.g. FM's big positives are its interactivity with players, reliable stats and press interaction. CM can be deceptive when it comes to stats, has zero press interaction and player interaction is confined to match days and problems. However, CM does have a cool news section where it authentically generates stories about teams in all the leagues, including your own. And it feels fun and realistic managing your team, especially a lower league one. Sometimes CM is spoiled though by the ridiculous things that happen, such as big money transfers in the premiership and certain team performances. E.g. lots of players have experiences of Man U or Liverpool dancing with relegation in their first seasons. That's not the kind of inconsistency you see with FM, so for that reason I'd recommend FM over CM, but don't count CM out just yet as patches may improve it tremendously (and bear in mind, FM may not be perfect on release either, as last year attests). |

Thanks for that. Pity about Champ Manager 2010 and the failings you cited. I have long searched for a decent manager game with a decent match engine.

champ manager 2010 is good its a completely new game and look for them. every month they are sending updates out to improve any problems plus they do a championship manager session where you can take control of your team with how things are in real life in time they will be the best.

I've not played the latest Championship Manager games, but the Football Manager series is imo a brilliant footy management game.
It's worth trying the latest demo of Football Manager 2010, the game can be a bit overwhelming to start with as there's so much to get to grips with but once you get the hang of it it's great. |

Best footie sim... Football Manager by far. i have to admit i was slightly dissapointed with FM09 regarding media interaction and matchday player instructions, and so i wandered into CM world and i bought CM10. I realised how good FM was, wasnt impressed with it, although it had some decents points as mentioned above by others. FM is king. cant wait for FM10

Just to add as well, FM09 and FM10 use a 3d match engine, I personally think it's pretty good although apparently some don't like it.
Give the FM10 demo a go! |

I played the Championship Manager demo and its poor, they've tried bless them, but the game seemed to be resource heavy, too many bugs, Arsenal signing Lee Carsley was horrible as well, unrealistic.
Football Manager 2010 on the other hand is about as close to perfection as a manager game can be, the layout is massively improved, slick, runs fast, no really terrible bugs. The match engine is still in developing stages, probably wont be great for a couple more years yet. Get FM2010, its the best there is!

Just bought FM 2010 and I have to say that it is a thousand times better than CM2010. I wonder if Edios are regretting the break up with SI games. Sega must be rubbing their hands at how much money the FM games make for them.
I have to say that when I first tried the FM2010 it did crash on me until I installed the first patch, but it now seems to be great now. |

Football Manager has the advantage of being the original, having been around since 1992, and continuously improved since then.
CM has improved a lot since it started in 2006, but it's not even managed to catch up with where FM was then, and it's moved on since
