The World's Strictest Parents, Series 2 - BBC3, NOW (Thurs, 9pm)

The World's Strictest Parents returns!

6 more cities...

Two wayward British teenagers experience strict parenting on the other side of the world.

Atlanta - THU 15 OCT, 9pm - BBC 3

First week, party-mad 17-year-old Bex Keene from Walton-on-Thames and lazy 16-year-old image-obsessed Chezden Dundee from Bolton travel Stateside to get new parents in Atlanta, Georgia.

They must spend a week living under the strict rules of the God-fearing Kimbroughs, a southern Baptist family dedicated to the success of their children. Dad David is a Baptist preacher while mum Wanda is a primary school administrator.

Oh yes, sounds like typical teenagers to me. Especially young Bex.

OMG, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from telling them to get stuffed and get on the next plane home! The parents are lunatics!

... and the mother soon forgot her theory that swearing shows a lack of intelligence when she said she didn't believe the crap about the smoke smell from the suitcase!

The teens are being totally disrespectful though. Maybe they don't believe in their principles, but they should still follow and respect them, that's the point of the show.

Of course they are and I'm hoping I've taught my kids enough about respect not to ever behave like that but the parents acting like that doesn't result in respect, only fear.

Our country is going to the dogs because kids seem to be allowed to get away with murder these days but as adults, we need to re-inforce mutual respect rather than rule like a tyrant.

This programme is an example of the two furthest extremes and as usual, the ideal is somewhere in between.

Bex should've stayed with the headteacher of the school instead of the parents who seems to have got more out of her.

OMG, the parents are truly shocking. How on earth those teens have kept control, I really don't know.

I'm utterly gobsmacked.

Well yeah it'd be rubbish if it wasn't the two extremes clashing together.

We all know there's no way Bex or Chez are ever gonna go home and start attending church every sunday or doing all the chores like an angel.

But it should at least allow them to appreciate what they do have, and change them in someway for the good.

Exactly and that's because she acted like the adult showing respect (despite Bex showing her little) and showed an interest in her by discussing the problems rather than just shouting her down like the parents seem to be doing.

Well yes, their whole set up is a bit extreme but the point is to show the UK kids have it easy in comparison to some.

Yeah, you didn't expect it because you didn't bother to find out about the real Bex.

*Talking to the mother, even though I know she can't hear me!*

And that's the sign of a good teacher who has the time to take a negative student away and talk to them. I doubt that kids in most schools have that opportunity with their teachers.

The real Bexs was only hell bent on behaving the way she does here without wanting to meet anyone half-way.
...I knew she'd come round though...well done her

Yep, she's brilliant and the key person in this episode. These shows always have a happy ending but I really don't think this one would have if it wasn't for the teacher.

The headteacher was excellent. The £7,000 a year fee doesn't seem that bad.

I just started watching this and would like to see previous episodes but for some reason the series isn't on the BBC iPlayer. I wonder how long it was before the kids went back to their old ways?

They repeated the first series in the weeks before the second series.
Pretty sure it's done a couple of rotations over the year
There was a 3 months later program after the first series, 2 failures out of that series.
See end of old thread.
Not a lot of traffic on there, even less on this series.
Again the BBC has done well selecting the parents.

Oh dearie me at this pair....I don't see any change in behaviour from either from them. Self-absorbed twit, and a drunken mouthy little madam.

ETA: What a complete c** Just leave her home, I don't bame the mother for not wanting to take her to meet other family members. The boy is just biding him time, pretending to be obedient till he gets home to his mum and carries on where he left off.

Baby=money to her, lovely.
