Surface aired from: Sep 2005 to Feb 2006, unfortunately it was cancelled after 15 episodes.

The showings on ITV on Thursday are almost coming to an end. 2 episodes left.

I picked it up on DVD for a fiver last year.

Spookily, I'm watching the DVD now. Pretty good so far (up to ep.4).

I paid £3.83, from dvd.co.uk (thank you, find-dvd.co.uk!)

A real shame it was cancelled...as the final episode really set things up well for a second series. Had loads of potential.

I'm surprised they didn't take the risk of renewal as the premise of the second series would have enabled them to keep the current viewers watching and would have allowed for a massive refresh to bring in a whole new audience.

I've just finished watching ep.15 (the finale), and I agree with you 100%. This show had a LOT going for it: great pace, masses of ideas, and two lead characters with bags of charm and warmth that weren't heading for some sort of clichéd romantic involvement. It'd be a great shame if it never came back in some form or other.
