Is there a point to Sinitta?

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear this woman's name mentioned?

- A string of "poppy farm" hits in the 80's that illustrated nothing other than a dire lack of singing talent but a wealth of record company financial muscle.

- A middle-aged "was never been" desperately clinging on to the aforementioned "success" (along with Simon Cowells nutsack).

- The most embarassing scene on The X Factor - ever. (No, not Whitney's or Robbie's demonstrations as to how rehab doesn't always work), but rather that cringeworthy scene in Judge's Homes where she appeared in nothing more than a few palm leaves and sweat.

She's about as relevant as Ricky Loney's song choice for this week.

Sorry my bad.

The woman just irritates me

Prior to The X Factor, the only time I heard of Sinitta was at wedding receptions with naff DJ's that needed to get the old biddies dancing.

Sinitta as a person may be lovely (I don't know as I've never met her), but Sinitta as a celebrity? Baffles me beyond belief. Only person who seems to see any credibility in her being a celeb is Simon Cowell.

I think he keeps her close because she knows too much

I've always found that to be odd.

Friendship aside, the way he always includes her does somewhat lower his credibility. It's like Gordon Brown having Screaming Lord Sutch as an advisor.

Whether Snit has loads of gossip on Si or not, I don't know but I do think he's genuinely fond of her and probably wants to help her out. It's the sort of big-hearted guy he is.

Gotta laugh at the fact she's currently plugging her new 'Greatest Hits' album......erm, what hits??!

I didn't know she'd had any, save for a couple of novelty tracks which were hideous even in the 80s, let alone now.

If it wasn't for Cowell she'd have remained in obscurity with the rest of the 1980s no-hit wonders. She must have some serious dirt on him; I cannot think why else he would keep her on the payroll.

And she is still claiming to have just turned '41'. Hmmm......

Do we really have to have another let's knock Sinitta thread.

Sinitta has been on the X Factor since the beginning, she is fun and doesn't take herself too seriously.

I can't see why people have a problem with her, she never tries to be something she isn't. Her friendship with Simon goes back over twenty years, he obviously enjoys her company and trusts her, what is wrong with that?

I think a friendship like that is something to be admired, not continuously knocked like it is on here.

I think it's just reworkings of her previous "hits".

The song titles will all be the same but with "RELOADED" or "ft. Scuzzy Bag" or something.

Not knocking the friendship. Just the general point of her as erm...ahhh...hmmm... whatever it is she is.

I love Sinitta, she's a classy lady and always ready to have a laugh at herself. And she loves her de-aging thread on DS

I'm not knocking her as a person, or her friendship with Simon. She, and it, seems very genuine.

I just don't get her as a tv personality. That's all.

I don't get what she brings to The X Factor.

I suppose Dancing on Ice is the next logical progression for her. Or Celebrity BB.

Nothing, especially since she hardly ever features but Si wants her there and that's good enough for me.

She's Simon's best buddy and for that I envy her and I intend to cultivate her as my new best friend just as soon as I can. And I'd like to have the sheer body confidence she has to wear her outfits, she's fab!

I don't mind her, even though she seems to be the only person who loses years off her age !

Personally I'd like to see her on I'm a Celebrity....but that's obviously out of the question because it clashes with X-Factor.

I love Sinitta. Without her there would be no "guess Sinitta's real age" thread and I wouldn't have had some of the best laughs I've had in ages!

Oh yes, Sinitta on I'm A Celeb would be fabulous! maybe we could campaign for her to do it? She'd make bikinis out of jungle foliage and look stunning. I LOVE Sinitta Sinitta for Queen of the jungle!

She is entertaining in ways that she'll never know. Hurray for Sinitta (14).
