My honest opinion is that I think the fact that WS has a very good relationship with the print media, treats them with respect and gives them plenty access means that they probably do give him an easier ride after a result like tonight. I don't know about Mowbray, but that is most definitely not the case with Burley.

I also think there wasn't much left to add to what he did say and I'd like to think that he would have left most of his talking/ranting for the dressing room (although I said that on Saturday as well ).
He criticised the defending on Sky so I suppose that will be used tomorrow morning.

I take it you won't be taking confidence from this 4-1 defeat?

He's probably on a plane back to Spain so he can be at the Real match tomorrow night too

Fantastic display by Rangers tonight. We completely outplayed Unirea for the full 90 minutes of the match and Rothen and Mendes completely bossed the midfield son.

Walter showed once again what an excellent tactician he s by setting his team out in a 4-3-3 formation, not 4-5-1 as people say. Walter always gets it right, we trust everything Walter does. If Walter felt that was the right decision then it must be.

A sparkling defensive performance once again by Big Lee who completely looked the part at the back alongside Davie Weir who looked like he could go on for another 10 years without any problems.

The 80.000 fans at Ibrox tonight soaked up the excellent football on display tonight and loved every minute of the game, knowing that despite losing 4-1 at home to a bit part Romanian team we still consider it a victory of sorts as we scored first.

Rothen showed once again what a cracking piece of business he was, the true star in Walters team. Walter really pulled out a masterstroke by signing him and now that he got a game in his preferred position he showed how cultured a left foot he has. A sublime player who makes us into guaranteed last 16 contenders.

So all in all an excellent day around Ibrox for the champions. Top of the league son. Must be worrying times for Celtic now son.

**Jezza mode over**

We were sh*te!!!

PMSL (At least yourself and Daviel are honest)

Hard to imagine Rangers winning the next 3 CL games but even that may not be enough.

Its gonna be really difficult to get the UEFA spot now. But it's not over till its over and you just never can tell when it comes to Rangers in Europe. Hopefully Sevilla will be fielding a weaker side when they play us and hopefully we can raise our game against Stuttgart at Ibrox. Wonder what odds you would get on the Rangers Stuttgart game finishing 4-1 Stuttgart though. Could be worth a punt

Well I don't think you'll beat Stuttgart - I've tipped that game as a draw from the start. The game in Romania is now a 'cannot afford not to win match'.

Rangers have now failed to win in 7 CL games, I can't see why they will win over there.

A weakened Sevilla team will still win in Spain.

If Unirea win then there is no way back for Rangers in the CL, if Babel gets sacked then I don't see Rangers making the EL.

Only 4-1? God I really can't believe how bad we really are. How can we lose so heavily to a very unknown team? If they can lose this easily to teams like this.......what hope do we have in england (as both old firms teams are bitching about playing up here)

I've said before Walter's record in the CL is poor and the fact that an inexperienced manager in Petrescu is shocked at his negative tactics says it all.

The next four games could define your season.

After Walters pre match interview on sky they deserved to lose, going on about how important it was not to lose tonight and not to commit men forward incase they break. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though but to lose 4-1 to lets face it Champions League minnows and play so negative.

If Celtic lose to Hamburg 1-4 that would be embarassing but Hamburg are a bigger name in Europe and have much better players. If Rangers could afford it and I was the new manager i'd get rid of the old deadwood. I don't know why they rave about how good Davie Weir is and how when Bougy is out they have an able deputy in Lee McCulloch. I'd rather have Sir David in the backline, he'd do a better job. (That's Sir David Jason not Murray btw )

I can only begin to imagine the joy we could have with Stokes, Deeko and Wee Zemmama running at you.

Do Rangers fans think you miss Barry Ferguson ? Is Weir a leader on the park ?

We'll see how that one goes fairly soon. You might feel the wrath after this embarrassment. Fleck might get unleashed on you lot

Nope not missing Bazza one bit. I think it wouldn't have been much different if he was playing to be honest. Weir isn't a leader on the park no. Don't get me wrong he reads the game really well and would be a great back up to have, but we desperately need a mobile centre half to partner Bougy. Lee McCulloch is not that man, and to be fair he has never claimed centre half is his best position.

Walter just likes playing forwards at centre half (McCulloch), left wingers on the right (Rothen), Strikers on left wing (Lafferty) strikers at right back (Little) strikers at right wing (Novo) and strikers at centre midfield (Fleck). There is a bit of a pattern there. Firstly we have far too many forwards. Secondly Walter really likes to play people out of position.

Then there's your best striker, who he leaves on the bench.

Yogi will be instructing 4 strikers to fire at will on Saturday. And even if the Bougy-man's back, I can't see Hibs scoring less goals than Gers.

I don't think Walter Smith will get the chop if Hibs go top... although he'll probably feel like quitting.

What can i say... a total shambles.

There is no movement, a lack of passion at the club and I just dont know whats gone wrong.

Probably ranks as the 3rd worst feeling I have had after a Rangers game in my lifetime.

Hibs will be top on Saturday.

We will finish bottom of our group.

It's ok Jezza son, you can come out now. Anne Frank never hid for as long as this.

What happened to Irnblu? Did I miss him being switched off for ever?

I am genuinely worried about Jezza

Yes, he said a weird goodbye.

As I said before, this still isnt as bad as Kaunas and St Johnstone (2006) for me.

Disgraceful

A RANGERS player today accused the club's supporters of racially abusing him after the team suffered a home defeat last night.
In a post on his Twitter account this morning, USA international Maurice Edu said: "Not sure what hurt more: result last nite or being racially abused by couple of r own fans as I'm getting in my car...smh (shaking my head]...off to rehab."

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently recovering from a knee injury and was a spectator as his side lost 4-1 defeat to Romanian side Unirea Urziceni at Ibrox last night.

It is not the first time the player has complained of racist abuse on the social networking site.

In August he complained that he had been on the receiving end of hate-filled comments from a number of users.

He wrote: "It's sad n embarrassing that people follow me so they can write racist comments. SMH. It's '09 people, let's grow up n mature a lil bit."

Edu immediately deleted the post but not before many of his thousands of followers had read it.

Rangers Supporters Trust spokesman David Edgar said: "We would absolutely condemn that if that's the case.

"These are not Rangers fans and they should be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

Edu has made 16 appearances for Rangers since moving to Scotland from Toronto FC for £2.6million in August 2008.

It never rains but it pores - Mendes out for at least two months.

The threadbare squad is being tested.
