Unfortunately it's pretty much bound to be 16:9 with stereo sound only!

Plus ads.

ITV HD is not the place to watch movies if you are a movie fan.

BBC HD or Blu-ray is your best bet.

It looks bad, 16:9 and rather soft. And even in HD Jar Jar Binks is totally dreadful!

I must state before everyone begins an ITV bash over the PQ, it was just as bad this time last year with Episode 1, and we eventually came to the conclusion that the TV print wasn't that good.

Also Episode II is much better.

PQ on ITV HD for Phantom Menace was poor last year - see this thread

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=948813

- not much of an improvement this time

I'm watching it in SD - and as ever... ITV cut in a bloody awful place for the news.

It's not just ITV, I think most HD copies are poor, something to do with the way the film was made that the subsequent ones weren't.

I agree. However I found the lip sync was quite a bit out on HD, but good on normal ITV1 (using Humax Foxsat HD receiver)

Me too. Ep1 was so bad that we put the DVD on.

Ep2 seemed much better.

Any news on the BluRay launch?

They'll keep everyone waiting until everyone really really wants it, then they'll launch it.
