Good site, seems the company that runs the servers has been taken over by another and all the websites have to register again.

His Big Brother Babes and Hollyoaks Pic sites are still up and both carry this message currently
Major Announcement concerning www.tartydoris.com the forum and all TartyDoris sub domains 14.10.09 - Some may have noticed that TartyDoris.Com the Forum and all TartyDoris.Com sub domain websites: Corrie Babes, Eastenders Babes, Emmerdale Babes, Home and Away Babes and Neighbours Babes are no longer present. This is a problem because of the domain registration of www.tartydoris.com. Originally I hosted TartyDoris with Lycos and they registered the domain name www.tartydoris.com so that I could use it for my website address. However, I only hosted with them for a short time as their hosting package didn't suit my needs and I looked elsewhere. However, they were still responsible for re-registering my domain name when it was due for renewal. Lycos did announce though recently that they have discontinued their hosting packages and all relevant services but that domains registered with them would still be safe and renewed when the time was needed. This happened a few months ago and I re-registered the name for another couple of years. However, after having tried to update TartyDoris.Com with the latest images from Strictly Come Dancing I found I couldn't connect to the server. So I checked TartyDoris.Com to see the message that the domain name I registered with Lycos has been affected by Lycos's discontinuation of their hosting services and that my website is effectively offline until I register under a new name or transfer the registry of www.tartydoris.com with a new host who can register the domain themselves. So Lycos have changed their stance and discontinued this service too despite the fact that my domain name should have nearly two years of use left. So I have asked my current host if they could register the domain so I can get the sites back up and running. However, I need an authorisation code from the company Lycos dealt with that registered domains for them in Germany. The only way I can contact them with the request is via Fax or snail mail. I don't have a fax machine or access to one so I have had to send them a letter to Germany requesting this confirmation code to provide to my current hosts so they can authorise the domain transfer. The company in Germany advise that the process takes 5 working days, when they receive the letter. If all the information I have provided them is correct as they have asked for a customer number, which I don't have and so I'm not even sure if when they receive my request they will even action it. What does this all mean. It's means that www.tartydoris.com the forum and all my sub domains mentioned above will be offline until this matter is resolved. Rest assured the sites aren't gone for good. They will be coming back and this isn't the end of TartyDoris yet. However, it could be a week or more before they are back. Maybe even two week or longer if there is a problem with the company in Germany. This is also the reason why I have had to make this announcement here as this is one of only two sites, along with www.bigbrotherbabes.org that isn't registered under the TartyDoris.Com domain. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to all the fans and visitors of these sites. But Lycos have let me down badly and there is nothing else I can do but wait at the moment. Hopefully, things should be back up and running again soon. |

Can't he just phone them up or email them? Most Germans speak great English especially those in technical support roles.

Really? walk into a pub, office, corner shop, smile sweetly and ask if you can send a quick fax to Germany in exchange for £1 or a cup of coffee from the Starbucks or a mars bar or whatever. Or use an online web-to-fax service. Or PDF it to me and I'll fax it. Job done in half an hour.
I know the United Domains company has handled this really badly but that's probably understandable if they've not been paid, you can see why they might not want their phone lines tying up. But faxing them what they want shouldn't be that challenging. |
