Freeview picture jumping after retune

Hi, I have a problem with my freeview picture sticking/jumping since I retuned it as asked a few weeks ago. I have a 2 year old PVR which has never been any trouble and the scart leads are in properly. Has anybody any idea what could be causing this, is it the signal? Or could it be my PVR be at fault? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Dave.

Maybe, when you retuned, the boxed stored the details for a second (more distant) transmitter as your main station. Have you got any repeated channels with numbers in the 800s which give a better result?

Signal overlap?

Hi

If you live in or adjacent to a TV region which has had digital switchover, your HDDR may be (mistakenly) selecting signals from a TV mast other than your most suitable one. This is more likely to happen nowadays, because the newly more powerful digital signals from switched masts reach further outside the areas they officially serve.

Such "signal overlap" problems can be overcome at a cost of under £5 or some of your time.

Regards

Thanks for your help guys. There are no channels in the 800's and the sticking/jumping is intermitant and seems to be worse on ITV. I have looked at the technical forum here and maybe I should not have retuned it. For information my PVR is a "warfedale LP1 60DTR" I live in Teesside and am not aware of any digital swichover near here. I think I need to search this site a little more for possible solutions. Thanks again, Dave.

Pretty much the same issue here in Leeds. Asked the question in the technical forum, but nothing as of yet.

Am i right in thinking that i can retune manually using the channels on this document?

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/recep..._guide_4_1.pdf

Just the 5 channel values given for Emley Moor there? I dont have to do each individual TV channel?

Yes, but it's 6 channels, not 5.

Im still having the same issues unfortunately.

I put the TV back to factory settings and then manually tuned it.
Mux 2 is still unwatchable, expecially in the evenings. It stutters, jumps and then just drops out.

Any further ideas? All other Mux's are totally unaffected.

I'm having the same problem

I'm having exactly the same problem (mux 2 channels all unwatchable). I've tried everything that's been mentioned already in this chain and still cannot pick-up the channels . I've called Ch 5, Ch 4 and Digital UK for help and none have been able to offer a solution.

Any advice on what I(we!) should try next would be greatly appreciated. I'm out of ideas.

Thank you.

Freeview picture breaking up after 5 pm

For the past few days the 19" Sony Freeview LCD TV in our kitchen works fine in the early morning and at lunchtime but after 5.00 pm the picture keeps breaking up and displays the blue heading showing the name of the programme being transmitted. However, the 40" Sony Freeview TV in or living room work fine all day. It is on a different aerial. The analogue pictures on the smaller TV are fuzzy after 5.00 pm but fine on the large TV.

Has anyone else got this problem? Is is something to do with work being done at Winterhill to switch off BBC2 on 4th November?

Our house is south east of Stockport, near Romiley.

Its not just me then! What transmitter are you on?

Annoyingly, i had the building manager take a look today and check up with others... and when he did it, it was all ok for that short period. I guarantee when im home this evening, it will be unwatchable again.

My closest transmitter is Oxford and my neighbour is experiencing the same problem as us too.

Very frustrating!

All Ok after retune

Yesterday, after 5:00 pm, the picture on channel 5 was stable on our small TV in the kitchen; it had been breaking up on the previous few days.

Today, at 7:30 am, there was no signal on BBC1 but ITV1 was OK. I retuned and all the channels seems OK.

On analogue, BBC2 has been replaced with a programme for kids but BBC1 etc are still available in 4:3.

It seems that my problem was either due to work being done at Winterhill for the changeover, or possibly due to the strong winds and heavy rain we had in the last few days affecting the aerial for the kitchen set but not the aerial for the living room set.

Recording problems

Since retune I've had very few problems when just watching, but BBC1 Wales won't record at all and I have ocasional problems recording iother channels. If I try to watch a recording whilst it is still being recorded the box often goes to pot and on exiting the library I get empty channels and have to reboot.
Transmitter is Llanddona and I doubt I could get any other transmitter as I'm to the West of Snowdon.
Friends have complained of problems as well, some losing channels and getting four versions of other channels.

I’ve arranged for an engineering to come and take a look. I’ll let you know the outcome in case it helps.

Nice one, thanks!

Starting to get very irritating now, especially if we have a Saturday night in, for example, and many things that we would like to watch, we just cant.

Just put the tele on and all of the mux 2 channels seem to be back!!! Hope yours are too? I'll wait a little while before I cancel the aerial engineer though - I'm still a little sceptical...
