This Is It

A friend of mine was at a staff screening at the cinema he works a few hours ago and said its an amazing film.

He said the concerts would have been unbelievable.

Only found one other review on Twitter - saying the same thing.

Can't wait to see it.

Lots of fans are not planning to see the film diliberately, because they think that the family knew how ill MJ was and did nothing about it. I can't work out if this is sad (as in pathetic) or not.

I s'pose i'll be the one to say it .....

What a desperate money making exercise this film is. Limited time cinema release , then put it out on DVD in time for Christmas.

Saw it in the early hours of the morning. I really wasn't expecting to cry but I couldn't control myself when the end credits went up. This is the side of Michael that a lot of the fans got to see and that we all always knew existed. Maybe the rest of the public will see it now.

For those who have seen it, is it a "fly on the wall" documentary? Is Jackson interviewed at all, is there narration or does it show how he works with musicians, dancers etc and generally put the show together?

Everyone realises that but film releases have always been timed and managed to make maximum profits so in that sense this is no different.

Despicable as they are, AEG are in business to make money and they have losses to recoup - they're not a charity!

It shows how he works with dancers and put a show together. It shows him working with the whole team.

No narration, no Jackson interview, though there is interviews with some of the crew and dancers etc.

To be honest, yes it is money making but with most of the profit going back to the estate who cares. It was great to see Micheal like this, if gives you an in-site into all the work he was doing for the shows, it shows you how some of the promo vids would have looked for certain songs.

It was fantastic in my opinion and i will certainly be buying it as soon as its out on bluray.

Go and see it, you wont be disappointed.

Apparently it's only in cinemas for 2 weeks, so they'll be rushing it out on dvd in time for christmas i'd imagine. A way to make money fast

I have a feeling it will be in cinemas for longer than 2 weeks - I think that is a publicity thing. Get as many people through the doors as possible at the start.

Sony knew they had something great on their hands, they paid tens of millions for it. They knew word of mouth would spread.

I expect in a few days we will get a press release saying its being extended due to "unprecedented demand"

I posted this on the other thread:

Hmm.

It is what it is really, a rehearsal film, not a concert film. Would MJ have approved? Probably not.

It doesn't really prove anything about the concerts either way. On the one hand, he could still sing and dance, on the other, he looked completely knackered after Beat It, and the Earth Song vocal wasn't good.

In terms of the film generally, I thought the X factor style sobbing at the beginning was over the top and it didn't really have an ending. I loved the thriller sequence though.

In the end I guess, like Doctor Parnassus, we are left thinking about what might have been. Shame that.

RIP Michael.

Just got back from watching it. I think they definitely did the right thing making it, and it was very well put together. However it is a shame that most of the footage appeared to be from earlier rehearsals - the later full dress rehearsals that we saw little snippets of were of pretty poor picture quality, like the leaked clip of "They Don't Care About Us" you can see on YouTube. I don't get why it looks like someone filming a television screen. Do they not have the original tapes?

Gotta say I was amazed at how good MJ was though. He definitely looked perfectly healthy and was dancing almost as good as he ever was. I was also surprised he appeared to be singing live for the majority of the songs considering he mimed the whole of his last HIStory tour.

The cinema was PACKED. There were literally no seats left but people were silent for most of the time, except the odd laugh here and there when MJ said something cute. And people clapped at the end out of respect which was nice.

We were also treated to some young dancers who came and did a Thriller routine in front of the screen before the film started which was nice of the cinema to do.

He was holding back on certain vocals. By the way, the Earth Song and Thriller parts were done the day before he died.

Went to see it earlier, fantastic film! i have to admit despite being a bit of a fan, i was surprised at how good his vocals were, i expected his voice to have been weaker than that
it's all very bittersweet though because it showed how truely amazing the concerts could have been

I seen it last night and was definately impressed. The effects, the spider, the dancing, the vocals...it would have been such an amazing show.

I love dit buy my friend posted this on my face book account as joke but also meaning what was said any thoughts any one?

I don't want to see dodgy DV footage salvaged from his stellar corpse vaults in a desperate bid to recoup concert cash blown up onto a massive screen for purely mercenary reasons. They've already said they'll make more from the DVD sales of this movie than they'd take at the O2 gate, and that is sick, as, sir, are you for going to see it and ... Read moreconsequently topping up their drooling coffers. It was their 50 date demand that killed him, and there you are throwing your money at them and loving them for it. Sick, sick, sick!

And my reply

The likes of uri c*nt geller and mark di*k breath lester exploited him they haver blood on their hands not me! And do not forget deep down jacko was a drug addict so what wrong with remembering him for his music do explain?
And I have unlimited card so got in for free he he!!!!

what are peoples thoughts?
