What slots will Sara Cox and Chris Moyles get on radio 2?

All former radio 1 breakfast show presenters from the last 20 years who have left radio 1 now have regular shows on radio 2; Simon Mayo (from Jan 10), Steve Wright, Chris Evans, Mark Radclife and Zoe Ball. (Exception is Mark Goodier but he only did 3 months on the breakfast show and still did some stand ins on radio 2).

Therefore Sara Cox and Chris Moyles will end up on radio 2, as the radio 1 breakfast show is the best stepping stone onto the station. Both are getting old for radio 1, a 25 year old listner in 2000 when Sara was on breakfast and Chris on drive will be 35 next year, well beyond radio 1 target and entering the radio 2 target age.

Radio 2 needs to bring in presenters like this to ensure it continues to appeal to the bottom end of its target audience.

Just wondering when you think they are likely to make the move and what slots they will get. Scott Mills will be the other likely presenter to move.

Chris Moyles will replace Steve Wright. I doubt Sara Cox will move to Radio 2.

Radio 2 is the next logical move for Chris Moyles. He's reached the pinnacle of UK Radio by presenting the Radio 1 Breakfast show. He would probably have to tone down his on air persona a tad to ease the transition but I think in a few years time he would be great on Radio 2, either in the afternoon slot or on Drive.

As for Sarah Cox I'm not so sure, though I wouldn't be that surprised if she did end up on Radio 2 at some point in the future.

Cornflakes with Chris Evans;

Cruise Home with Chris Moyles

Moyles will eventually take over R2 breakfast. If Evans cocks up and leaves there'll be no-one else really to take over it.

I reakon Jo whiley will get Ken Bruce's slot when he goes as this will be the perfect slot for her. As for Sara Cox, it's a bit of a tough one, she might get a weekend slot, but I don't really know about daytime.

I really hope he doesn't and I actually reckon he wouldn't go for it either.

Chris Evans will be a success on the breakfast show. I have actually started to warm to my suggestion of Chris Moyles replacing Steve Wright. Moyles is a good interviewer. I can just hear him interviewing Dame Helen Mirren

I think he could adapt his act quite well actually.

Chris Moyles is a sort of DJ who likes to bounce ideas and have talky bits with people in the studio. So he would need a show similar to what Steve Wright does. I couldn't see him presenting a show on his own.

I wonder if Moyles may do some cover work for 2 whilst still being on 1. He could sit in for Ross on a Saturday morning for example

As I read the OP I found myself mentally preparing to rubbish the whole idea of either presenter ending up on Radio 2 at all.

But as I read what others had to say I felt myself coming round and am even envisaging Moyles on afternoons - the sooner the better - and later, drive.

Chris could certainly hone his act to something more acceptable to a Radio 2 audience, and eventually pretty much any daytime slot except 12-2. There would probably be a transitional period where he did a Saturday show. I can't see any rush. Age isn't that much of an issue as long as the show connects. I'm sure he has a lot more "target" listeners then Fearne Cotton will have.

Sara, I think she'd grow old disgracefully on Radio 1 to be honest for quite some time. Her own personal music interests seem to be in those areas both 6 music and R2 are weak in (such as standins for Pete Tong in the past).

The OP missed out Kevin Greening in terms of R1 breakfast presenters. Sadly he never got a chance to shine on R2 which is a real shame.

I wonder if Jo Whiley will ever be on Radio 2? She may well take over from Bob Harris and Johnnie Walker when they retire.

She has stood in a couple of times for Claudia Winkleman on the Arts Show on Friday nights, over the last couple of months, so this idea isn't as ridiculous as it sounds!

When he does move to Radio 2 (I'm sure it's more a case of when rather than if) Chris will probably bring his team with him, though most definitely his side kick Comedy Dave.

I agree with both the above. Certainly would be a good idea to intially transfer Moyles to Radio 2 via a Saturday slot of some sort.

Worse than a severe bout of Swine Flu I for one won't be listening.

And as for awful Sara Cox.............what a way to ruin R2. She was crap on R1. We've got more than enough already with motormouth (shame I can't operate the desk) Zoe Ball.

I'd rather hear Moyles on 9-12 instead of Ms Ball.

Specualtion about Moyles to leave Radio 1 breakfast and Vernon Kay to take over. The reason is listeners are leaving.

I thought Moyle's Rajar figure is up when compared to the same quarter last year?
