I've got a 160GB Seagate ST3160215ACE in mine, been working flawlessly for over a year.

Tried a 160GB Western Digital WD1600AVBB before that and it worked for 9 out of 10 recordings but every so often a recording would skip.

Please help a n00b.

Can anyone advise on this hard drive? I understand that 5400rpm is what Sky + prefers although that's based on hear-say.

After Anytime takes 80 of the 250gb, would I in effect be doubling the current disk space I have? I believe I have an Amstrad V3 but I'm not too sure about that - I got it in June 2007 if that helps.

.
Try and find a disk that is optimised for audio-visual tasks, like the Seagate ACE disk mentioned above - that said, my Seagate AV optimised 320GB ACE disk is not working properly (see seprate thread)!

Now got my disk working OK (see separate thread) , so see if you can still find a Seagate DB35, ST33208ACE (320GB - I got mine from DELL, but can't find any on the web.

You could possibly go to the Seagate website and look (possibly in the obsolete products section!) for IDE drives with the "ACE" suffix at the end of the P/N - that (AFAIK) denotes an AV optimised drive - and then search for one of those.
