Pyscho & The Birds (Hitchcock movies).

I love these.

They are still scary to me as they were back then (ok i'm 18 but still).

I also really hate black birds so watching it scared me so much but i love to be scared if that makes sence.

Anyone else love these movies? And it is the Halloween period after all.

Psycho and The Birds are Hitchcock's two best films IMO, for differing reasons.

Sophomorically well-publicised gripes about the special effects aside, The Birds has an incredibly crisp, striking visual quality which could easily pass the film off as having been made 10 years later than it was.

As a massive Hitchcock fan, both of these are superb.

Probably ranking just behind Norht by Northwest as my favourites of his

Both films are recognised classics today.

Daphne Du Maurier originally wrote the story behind The Birds and it is a short story, not a novel as far as I know. It can be found in a short story compendium of Daphne Du Maurier's short stories which you might be able to find on the amazon website using search.

Hope that helps.

Psycho is great, one of my favourite films.

I'm not so keen on The Birds. It's pretty tedious at times. The idea of birds attacking like that is terrifying though.

The Birds is getting a remake, well they are apparently sticking closer to the story.

Love The Birds, thought Psycho was a load of over-rated tosh.

You must be thinking of Vertigo.
That really is silly (unless, as has been said, it's all an illusion as Scotty falls to his death, which might account for it).
At least Psycho makes sense.

Love Psycho but always found The Birds too unintentionally funny.

Slavoj Zizek did a great analysis of those Hitchcock films in his Pervert's Guide to Cinema,

Just re-watched the birds. Weird ending, who knows the outcome? It just kinda ends.

I like it though, it's interesting.

The ending of The Birds still creeps me out where they're all sitting outside the house.

There are about four Psycho films and a remake, but only the original is directed by Hitchcock.

No love for Rebecca? It's a great film. Also, The Lady Vanishes is top notch.

It is a topic on The Birds, and Psycho.

But yes, The Lady Vanishes is probably my favourite from the director.

I read that Hitchcock actually had some of the birds tied to Tippi Hedrun with thread around their feet in the scene in the attic so the terror on her face isn't all acting!

Both excellent movies. That final scene of the Birds where they walk out the house and all the birds are roosting on the floor is brilliantly creepy.

There are so many Hitchcock movies to talk about though. Strangers on a Train is one of my faves. And Rear Window. And Vertigo. And....
