Breaking Bad - comes to FTA - don't miss it!

A wonderful black comedy, getting an outing from the start on FiveUSA.

I may just watch it again from the start!

I second this. Brilliant show and a wonderful, Emmy-winning performance from Bryan Cranston.

Unless they run it on that means ages until season 2. Five treat their US shows poorly (unless it’s Flashboreward or CSI) so I’m less than thrilled that they have this. Would have been a bold and appropriate step for BBC4 to pick this up IMO.

Great show. Career best performance by Cranston.

That’s good news. I have the R1 DVD pre-ordered so depending on when that’s released I may not need to wait for Five to finish the series.

I know the subject matter is most definitely adult but 11pm is a bit of a shitty time really.

I think the channel and labelling as "black comedy" will ensure that hardly anyone watches this. Which is a shame, because it's easily one of the best (if not THE best) new shows in recent years.

Brilliant show, can't recommend it enough. If you're not sure whether to watch it or not, watch it you won't be disappointed!

It could be as little as 7 weeks but with xmas I would say early new year. Not that long.

BBC4 has to be careful with imports limited under it's charter. More4 would have been a good fit.

I was reading an interview with the creator and showrunner -- Vince Gilligan -- and Bryan Cranston, the star of the show, and they picked up on what may be a key reason the show is so brilliantly different.

He said about how the show was about the in-between moments that you never see in shows or films about criminals. If you really wanted to kill someone, how would you go about it? If you needed to cook and sell crystal meth, what would you have to get together? What would you do with the money you raised from it, in the sense of storage? How could you spend it?

Stuff like that is why I love this show -- that, combined with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, the odd couple of the whole thing.

A lot of shows can be too slow or too fast, or boring or convoluted, or just have characters you're indifferent towards. For me, this show does everything right. Even the pilot (and in my experience, pilots are horrible things to have to sit through to get to the meat of the story) is phenomenal. The whole of season 1 builds towards something, and season 2 just keeps that momentum going.

So maybe you have a recording device, or you're free at 11pm for about an hour every Tuesday night, and everything else is unappealing to you. Try Breaking Bad. There is nothing like it on TV, and particularly if you're one of those people who obsess over the little things your favourite films or TV shows gloss over, then this might be the show for you.

C'mon! IT'S HAL FROM MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE!! DON'T YOU WANT TO SEE HOW HE CAN OWN THIS ROLE?

Commentaries on the DVD are excellent as well. It’s amazing to hear Vince Gilligan talk as he sounds like he should be threatening Eliza Dushku in Wrong Turn or riding Ned Beatty in Deliverance rather than writing this piece of genius.

You’d think Five would put this on the main channel. Ghettoising it on 5USA is just hobbling it from the outset.

I think it would bomb on the main channel like 30 Rock and Californication did.

You need to take a stand with a digital channel and give them some new stuff of their own or they just become repeat and c-list programming channel.

Further bump -- 11pm on FIVEUSA; channel 174 on Sky; channel 31 on Freeview; channel 150 on Virgin and channel 30 on Tiscali.
