Sky Sports News

After recently sacking 2 mixes (News and Kids) I was puzzled that SSN went?
Why do Sky charge for a channel you can watch for nothing on bog-standard terrestial digital???

This question comes up more often than a male teenage appendage

SSN if on Freewview and now its part of the Sports Mix on Sky as well as the News & Events Mix.#

If you Freeview built in to your TV its just a case of switching between Terrestrial and Satellite.

Why they dont make it FTV on satellite - probably to make people take News & Events

It's free on Freeview because it was one of the least valued Sky channels that Sky could provide as one of their 3 channels being part of the BBC/Crown Castle/Sky (Freeview) DTT bid.

Project PICNIC would have seen it's removal from FTA DTT but it's removal was delayed waiting on the OFCOM final statement for the PICNIC consultation ... which was delayed due to the Premium content PAY TV consultation.

Thanks for answers. Of course I can/do switch to DTV if I want to watch SSN.... just seems weird that Sky are happy for me to switch my digibox off - you'd think they'd want to keep me in "couch potato" mode on the satelite channels and not encourage me onto freeview?
