New EPG: mini TV
Hello,
I quite like the Mini-TV during playback. But it's causing problems when I'm viewing TV or using the guide and I get the live + two-recordings clash - I often use the TV Guide as a means to overcome the "to continue viewing <X>, select <Y> or <Z> recordings to cancel" and then choose something to playback. The Mini-TV thus forces me to watch something I'm recording. Is there anyway to have the Mini-TV function not cause the clash whilst using the guide, say to auto-switch to blank with the old Sky+ music but have it still active during playback and when there are no clashes? |

You can turn the mini-tv off but astonishingly the sound still continues, and clashes can still be a problem. The mini TV does have its good points, but it has some nasty user experience issues around twin recordings and a half hearted disable mechanism. Hopefully Sky will get their fingers out and force NDS to fix these issues, but to be honest past experience suggests that they don't particularly care. Thompson owners are still waiting for the fix for the x30 FF/RW fault that Sky's official spokesperson promised this forum 3 years ago! |

It is certainly a lot better, at least on my box, but still nowhere near as good as it was on my previous Sky+ box.

Get into the habit of pressing TV Guide when you have finished watching a recording, rather than backup or stop.
That way, the recording carries on playing in the mini tv guide, rather than live TV. Obviously you can't delete that recording, if you are used to hitting backup then delete, but at least you won't go to a live channel showing something you are recording. |

That's a good idea. I'll have to break the habits of many years!
My EPG only just got updated (day before initial post) so it should be fairly recent. However, I've got to quite like the Mini-TV in most circumstances, only the clashes or showing a programme being recorded are now problems. |
