Is the Sunday programme a waste?

Is there any real point, to the Sunday edition, of the XFactor?

I really feel it's a wasted effort, and would be better suited, back on Saturday night.

I've thoroughly enjoyed, the Star attractions, singing, but also feel this could be better incorporated into the Saturday edition.

Also, the Panel vote has now become pointless, as other have pointed out, it's just wasting valuable air time, even asking them to decide, then allowing it go follow through to the public vote anyway..

am I alone?

Its as irritating this year as waiting for the Sunday show of Strictly last year.... absolutely and totally uncessary. If they managed to give us the results last year with no problem in one night, why not this year.

Of course it seems to exist only to give the ageing rock and pop superstars of the moment a chance to publicise their new cds with an appearance.

No, at least it makes Sunday evening exciting. When the show finishes on a Saturday night, I still have the next day to look forward to. So I love the new format!

the first 50 mins of the 60 min show is complete waste of time, people are only interested in the last 10 mins but cowell true to form has to drag everything out to the enth degree.
They should have kept it all on a saturday night.

from itvs perspective it works really well - they get MORE viewers for the results shop than the saturday live show according to this site...also, the program is starting much later this year -8pm - so the results show would have to be only at nearly 11pm which would be too late for primetime viewing

I prefer it this way to be honest. I do enjoy watching the star attractions on Sunday, even if it's only to see which "world class superstar" has snorted or smoked something before taking to the stage!

Plus, it gives me something to watch on a Sunday evening. What else would've been on? Heartbeat? YAWN!

I'm still not sure what's going to happen with the final though. The whole suspense might be a bit ruined if they spread it out over 2 nights.

It IS useless, i.e. it could easily be on Saturday

However I prefer having something to watch on Sunday so in that respect I prefer it.

I don't have a problem with the Sunday because unlike SCD and the ALW shows, it's not simply recorded on the Saturday evening and broadcast on the Sunday which I thought was pretty pointless.

I would like to see the voting figures for previous years when people had hour or 2 to vote & now when they have nearly 24 hours.
On the face of it, it's to eek out as much money out the voting public possible by giving them longer to vote.

They spread the AI final over two nights. Mind you, they make a really big deal of the second night before they announce the result at the end. I wonder whether they would spend that much on the XF final.

They've always had the results show the day after every week on AI though because of the number of votes.

if anybody has ever watched the sunday show on Sky+, its actually a 10 minute show plus 50 minutes of filler bollocks. its only to prolong the voting but its maybe backfired because not only is this the worst year contestant-wise, its also the year where i think the penny has finally dropped with the audience that its just a panto designed to milk the viewers to the max. i can't help but think if they hadnt have messed with the format (right from the awful BGT style auditions to the extra Sunday show) people wouldnt be as cheesed off with the show like they are now.

It's going down a storm in the TV ratings ; I read that one of the Sunday shows had higher ratings than the Saturday one on Irish TV3.

Actally I think it is. I prefer it when it goes to the public vote. People will complain if a judge votes out a popular contestant so I think it is better if we decide every week, then we have only ourselves to blame.

I think I read somewhere that last year got around 16.5 million votes across the entire series.

EDIT: 16,469,064 to be exact, sourced from Wikipedia but I read the origional figure somewhere slightly more reliable.

which of course is a complete pile of pants since the basis they use for calculating these figures have such a ridiculously small sample. Lets face it the few THOUSAND people whose viewing habits are monitored are just the sort of people who are tv addicts and will sit at home on a saturday night watching dross tv, when half of the 16-25 age group will really be out in the pub or preparing to go clubbing at that time of night...

Sorry to be pendantic, just thought I'd point out that the post you have quoted is referring to voting figures, not viewing figures.

However I do agree with your point to an extent, unsure though whether BARB who record the figures would make sure they got a representative sample of different kinds of people?

I hate it.

Last year one guest was enough! Now I have to put up with two!

Then they have a break after the bottom two have been revealed. Just enough time for the producers to tell the judges the order of the bottom two and the judges to chat to each other about which act to vote out.

Basically, what I'm saying is, bring back the result show from last year but put it on a Sunday.

I think that show lasted 30, maybe 45, minutes?
That's long enough - I only want the results.

Two stars is too much for me...

It seems like the Sunday show is only an excuse to get celeb guests on e.g. Whitney

The guests take up at least half of the Sunday show
