ITV Completely Clueless

They just destroyed any tension in the current storyline by one of their desperate arty trailers..... bottom line being, even for the most braindead viewers, you can skip this weeks episodes as Tony survives and we have something lined up to insult your intelligence yet again next week. Amazing.

Bit unfair, I think. The "desperate arty trailers" are usually quite inventive and much better than when they just show clips from upcoming episodes.

As for the main thrust of the post, I don't think soap spoilers are considered in the same way as for other programmes. They're on the front of magazines, they're discussed on programmes like This Morning ... ultimately, it's widely known already that Tony survives the heart attack and it was even alluded to at the end of the episode that he was making a somewhat miracuous recovery.

So whilst I don't disagree that in general, ITV are completely clueless, I don't think there's much of a case to answer here.

it reminds me of the trailers for Mike's death where they showed his death scene as if you show the most important scene of an episode in a trailer theres no point tuning in if youve already seen the main attraction is there

It's still far better than any trailer Eastenders has had recently ie none whatsoever. It's like the bbc has given up.

Yes cut costs but not quality. I suspect we may have one for Other Tony week then Christmas though.

I think Corrie/ITV realise that Tony is the only good thing about the show at the minute as we have now had at least 3 promos for him, the heart attack one, the one with Carla in and now this one (am i forgetting any?)

whats the point in running trailers for nothing storylines? they haven't had a big storyline to advertise lately.

Sam's return was properly trailed and that was only just over a month ago so I fail to see your point.

EastEnders has onair promotion almost every day in the BBC trails and one to watch etc plus it gets the most media coverage and is the most talked about soap so doesn't really need a leg up from the beeb lol.

That's what I meant No big story lines no big trailers. Sam's was awful. And a rip off of it's Call girl.

Think back to this time last year (Oct 30th actually) and we had the brilliant Max's Judgement day trailer. Real class.

And it took me 8 viewings to realise the security guard was Bradley.

Itv also does the same every day with corrienation trailers and then Big storyline trailers. But their stories are nowhere near as good as EE.

Trina's Death could of been made stronger. The who's the daddy storyline petered out to nothing because it wasn't promoted enough.

The BBC has ignored promoting true genuine real and big storylines for a long time. Another was Stacey's breakdown. A real chance to get viewers hooked and tease them with Bradley's departure.

Instead as you said yourself they went with promoting a returning hasbeen of a character who lets face it has not done a thing since she returned and will not be missed when she leaves. ( for the haters I am talking about character of Sam here not Daniella who is perfectly lovely).

Sorry for the long post read it back sounded a bit rant.

all I am saying in my opinion. Corrie have it right this year.

Last year was EE year no doubt.

They had the ricky/Bianca they're back trailer.

the Jackson5 trailer.

The mad May blow up trailer

Max's judgement day trailer.

the standard Christmas Trailer

Huge trailers for huge storylines.

2008 big year for EE and lets face it 2009 hasn't lived up to it. Danielle's death a disappointment but the only storyline promoted. The rest. Meh actually.

2009 Corrie has great trailers and promotion but actual story lining . awful is the word.

I would've considered it bad taste to promote the bi polar storyline since they weren't doing it for ratings.

Surely this is a joke. All soap storylines are done for ratings.
