V - 2009 - US Pace (No Spoilers)

I know there are quite a few V threads but I cannot find an official US pace one.

"They arrive november 3rd."

I saw the first 9 mins online a few days ago and it looks like it will be really good.
Just have to hope that the network don't muck it up.

Offical US website :

IM really really looking fwd to this! Am a huge fan of the original which I again rewatched in its entirety (Minis and TV series) for the umpteenth time just a few weeks ago.

Hope Im not disappointed. What Ive seen, has hyped me up, and I like the whole look of the show!

And itll be a good day TV wise for me - cos Ill watch this followed by the Spooks series 8 premiere on the BEEB. Perfect night in front of the box!

TV3 Ireland is going to show "V" (2009) only two days after the US broadcast. For all those who can get it ...

The only issue I had was that 'the arrival' was a bit too quick. I'd have liked a slower build up. Even Independence Day didn't have the aliens turn up that quickly and that was only a film!!

I'm looking forward to seeing this despite the youth element this series is undoubtedly going to focus on. Calling the Visitors "the V's" has got my back up already.

Because ABC have only made 4 episodes. If it's a hit they'll make more, but they won't air till March. Sky presumably wouldn't want to air 4 episodes then take it off for 4 months if it works here.

Who needs streaming when you have the usual suspects .

So far it isn't too bad & am thinking that I haven't seen an alien this hot since Species

Are references to the original mini-series considered spoilers? Not that I feel the need to compare the two, but they look (at least from the first episode) to share some common themes.

spoiler:
In the original, the aliens were off the ship and into the cities super fast. The show was more about the Visitors creating a global conspiracy, the sycophantically blind population and a growing resistance movement supported by traitorous Visitors.

But I agree with you. It could have done with a bit more suspense. I think they have to cram a lot in the pilot to pique interest. Sometimes that lead to plot overkill.

Maybe it's me being older, maybe it was me loving the original so much, but this lacked something, I don't know it just didn't feel right.

Yes, it looked great, but they got about a third of the way through the original story in one episdoe and to be honest, it wasn't even half as good.

I'm going to have to have a real good reason to watch the next episode, as this just didn't jump up and say watch me.

This is probably the first time I've had to consider the implications of a remake or do over of something I have watched far too many times and is an iconic part of my childhood, thanks to my teenage sisters I got to see the original when it first aired which was when I was four or five!

The first thing that is very apparent is that it should have been shown as back to back episodes, especially when there is only four to show, they have flown through most of the original mini-series and so what do they have left. I wonder what someone who hasn't seen the original made of it.

I cant see this show having many legs to it, if it does I would like to see it explore the biggest mystery from the original (think SETI)

To be honest, many unanswered questions were left behind by the original series, I doubt like that this one will get the chance to tell the whole story.

Well I've just finished watching it, and I have seen the origional V including the soapy series that followed.

I liked it, it seemed to flow quite well for me, it didn't stand too long on one scene, which can lead to something quite boring, which is wher Defying Gravity fell down. This is what americans wan't fast flowing minimal detail, they arn't too good at slow paced stuff when it comes to this type of show.

The alien women are HOT the ships look good especially the CGI inside the ship, they have set it up well for future episodes. I just hope that the Americans watch it for the 4 episodes without dwindling numbers, we need a show like this on TV.

Ugh, just started watching it. Please don't tell me it's all mother and son teenage angst like Dawson's Creek or some other tripe from The CW.

Enjoyed it, didn't wow me exactly, but good enough to sustain my interest for these next few weeks. Loved Alan Tudyk, as always.

Yes, I shall keep watching. The last five minutes of the pilot had me gripped and were great stuff.

Jeez, massive premiere numbers. I don't think ABC were expecting that! Do you think the hiatus will go ahead now? It could really kill momentum.

They don't have a choice; 1.5 isn't in production yet.

Pretty decent start. Shame the network has already cursed it. Meah! I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Either way, anything that puts Alan Tudyk in my screen is okay be me...
