JLS v Robbie for No.1 album next week.
Who do predict will triumph? Suppose most people will say Robbie but it looks like JLS will have had two No.1 singles by Sunday and I think they'll beat him!!

I would be surprised if JLS beat Robbie in an album chart battle but its possible.
They have a ridiculously huge fanbase (Trafford Centre Xmas Lights Switch On )Currently they are well ahead of him on Amazon's 'Best Sellers chart' (JLS 5, Robbie 20) HMV are running a special promotion of different covers of each member. And as you say they are well on course for their second number one single. Robbie's Electric Proms gig helped ramp up anticipation by previewing some very good tracks from the album and renewed interest in him as an artist. I think they will both have healthy sales and whichever lands at number 2 will be with high sales, although Michael Buble could put a spanner in the works as he is selling consistently well (also due on Paul O Grady this week) and could end up separating the two. |

JLS don't stand a chance. they might have a big fanbase but i doubt it will be enough next week.
Robbie's album is probably the most anticipated this year, and he's also on Jonathan Ross on friday, which will be more helpful promotion i'm sure. doesn't that only count sales and pre-orders from the last week or so? Robbie's album has been gathering pre-orders for over a month now so overall he's probably ahead. |

Robbie's album has been the top in the pre-orders chart for the last two weeks, which takes account of pre-orders from every source. However, pre-orders make up such a small amount of actual sales that it won't really affect the overlall chart position next week.
JLs are on course in the midweeks to sell less singles than both Alexandra and Cheryl did. Both their albums sold 120-130k first week, so it's likely that JLs will do around the same. I would be very surprised if Robbie's album doesn't open with more than 150k sales. He is a huge album seller, and I know lots of people who are waiting for it to come out that didn't bother with the single. You also have to take into account that the majority of album sales are to older people, which covers Robbie's main fanbase, and single sales are generally to younger people - teen girls are the main fanbase of JLS. Robbie is also on Jonathan Ross this weekend singing two songs from the album, so that is very good promo at the right time. Everyone is also raving about his electric proms performance which will also give him a boost So I would be surprised if JLS sell more than Robbie, who I think will probably score the highest first week album sales to date this year. |

Just had a look and 'Rudebox' still managed 147,000 even though it was roundly panned by critics. This album is much more anticipated and from what I've seen of the songs already, not lacking in quality. I don't think its impossible for JLS to get as good sales but I would be surprised. I reckon first week sales for albums will go something like 9th November: Robbie gets biggest first week album sales 16th November: Leona tops Robbie sales 23rd November Susan Boyle tops Leona's sales. |

I'll eat my hat if Robbie don't get number 1. I rekon Robbie's album will be cheap as chips in stores such as Asda and Tesco's just like Take That's The Circus ablum last year was £5.00 during it's first week at Asda, which should push up sales alot

They may decide to sell JLS cheap instead though! Or neither!

Interesting to see who wins. I wouldn't be shocked if JLS beat Robbie. If Robbie does not get to number 1, he won't have a hope in hell in rising to number 1 the following week because of good ol LeLe

Robbie has got absolutely tons of promotion ahead. Aside from JR this Friday, he has the whole Loose Women show on Monday. On Sunday there are four different programs about him and his album and second single on Channel 4 alone. Robbie will definitely beat JLS to number 1 but he'll probably only hold the number one slot for one week and his total album sales will be a lot less than I anticipated they will be. I'd love to be proven wrong and JLS to do it (their own promotion - is pretty poor in comparison - sure they have some personal appearances - but nothing that the wealth of Robbie's management can buy.)
I don't think lowering the price of an album in its early weeks can help at all ... I remember seeing Rudebox for as little as £3 during the first few weeks of its release ... and that didn't help it too much. If people want to buy an album ... they'll buy it at any price. |

Erm... Biffy Clyro's highly anticipated new album is out next week as well... It's top of my list... I didn't even know JLS's album was coming out so soon.

Biffy's last album sold a total of around 220k in 2007 when album sales were much higher, so I doubt they will be a contender for the top spot, despite the fact that they are likely to have critical acclaim. Bands like Biffy Clyro, Elbow etc highlight how much it has become manufactured and reality tv acts succeeding over critically acclaimed acts in the charts.

Take comfort in the fact that Biffy will probably still be going strong in 10 years time when most other manufactured acts that are dominating the charts will be long gone. And I speak as someone who is a big fan of Alexandra Burke.

I'd love for JLS to get the number one album, but it'll probably be Robbie. As long as they get good sales though, it doesn't really matter

JLS promotion for album:
7th November - JLS Revealead Documentary about their journey since x factor.. 10:30pm 10th November - This Morning 11th November - Blue Peter 14th November - 5:19 show on BBC 2 Not very impressive at the moment, so hope they will have more lined up But I think their documentary may get them a few sales especially as its on after X Factor and then repeated during the week |

Surely Robbie's fans will have more money at their disposal to buy albums, than the JLS tweenies single downloaders?

Robbie's comback is anticipated so i can see him getting the no.1 spot.
But JLS's fanbase is increasing (all those tweenies ) so they have been saving their pocket money to buy the album.Anyway, i don't really care. Not a fan of either!
