Neighbours - teen overload!!!

So it's no secret that lately neighbours has been more focused on the teens but today's ep was just insane

There was 'the gang', the two ramsays and kyle (the hottie ). Add to the fact most scenes were in or around the school and ringo seemed to be in nearly every scene - which is never a good thing

Elle/Lucas/Dan may have just been speaking extras

Falling numbers of Australian viewers. They are most probably trying to win over a new younger audience. Neighbours average around 700,000 per episode as opposed to H&A that has over a million per episode.

Then they should get some half-decent teens.

Ringo, Zeke and Sunny are a bloody nightmare, and Harry doesn't seem to be much better.

I liked ringo when he arrived and was interacting with Pepper, Rosie & Fraiser.

Agreed, it doesn't really help when most of the teens are awful characters (Sonny and Ringo I'm looking at you). It's only Donna the the saving grace but I think she's better when she's interacting with Paul and Elle.

Today's was the worst episode in ages!! Hate all the teen stuff!!!! It would be okay if all the teens were up to the standard of Donna and Declan.... but instead we have Sunny, Zeke and Ringo to put up with!

Why do so many people so often say that they don't like Zeke, even though he's unbelievably delightful and gorgeous and handsome and beautiful and funny and charming?

I like the Ramsey's, Kate moreso than Harry but he's alright. Zeke's got his place as well, when he's involved in Kennedy stuff, but I agree that Sunny's just never worked and dragged Zeke down and since his brother left Ringo's reason for sticking around have become more tenuous.

Donna is great as always and Declan's been rescued now that Bridget's no longer around.

The reason why H&A is doing better than Neighbours in Oz is because they use both older and younger characters. Neighbours has turned into Grange Hill. Susan Bower has served her time. It's time for a new producer to step up to the game.

I've always preferred Neighbours to Home and Away, but whilst H&A managed to rehook me after ages of not watching it, I still can't muster any enthusiasm for Neighbours.

I am only up to Wednesday of last week, but the Sunny dancing story is terrible.

Neighbours was a classic but since about 2000 when the Martin clan departed to be replaced by the Scullys it seems to have gone downhill, got better, gone downhill, got better on a constant basis. Give up a few years ago but I am watching now and its okay. It's the only soap I watch and as for H&A, the classic episodes over the summer reminded me how good it used to be. H&A is a non-starter for me now.

P:S: Can Five not show classic Neighbours since they only obtained the rights in 2008?

H&A's classic episodes are only from the post-ITV1 days from around about 2000.

I dipped into Home and Away for a few weeks in March, and just couldn't get into it, I was bored watching it. I used to watch it right from the beginning until it stopped on ITV.

IMO when there is bad neighbours episode at least it is somewhat watchable.

Grange Hill would have been funny if it had always been in the same one classroom, and with all the pupils of all ages together, in a class size of 12

it wouldnt be so bad if the teens were good characters. with the exception of donna they are awful! kate and zeke arent too bad, but the traces of bridget, harry sunny and the dire ringo make one bad crowd. neighbours have some brillient characters, shame they are overtaken by the teens.

im sure there are many people like me who have watched neighbours since childhood, maybe its my age now but i hate the teen focus!!

Well I'm a teen (19, so only just ) but I hate the focus on the Neighbours teens. I'm far more interested in the older characters. I love Karl, Susan, Paul, Elle and Lucas. I dislike the kids, and I think the teens would be bearable if they weren't the focus of nearly every storyline.
It is getting worse. I watch Neighbours on Five On Demand, and recently I was looking at the Neighbours photo and thinking that most of the characters in that photo are now gone. Funnily enough, they changed it this week - to a photo of Donna, Ringo and Declan. How predictable!

I quite like Donna and Declan, I don't like the Ramsays (get on my nerves...I can't decide which is worse!), I don't like Sunny (obvious reasons) or Zeke (always whining about something..I don't care about his rafting accident, get over it! It's not an excuse for everything!). I'm not too bothered by Ringo...I think that's it.

THe core audience of Neighbours in the UK are those that have watched it for ages. I personally no longer watch it as it has become teen orientated. Nothing wrong with that for the younger audience but nothing for us 30 somethings to connect with

It is absurd at the moment. I don't really watch Neighbours much these days, just have it on in the background, hoping for a rare glimpse of an adult! I can't believe that there isn't a single strong family unit in the whole street now, just gangs of feral kids roaming the streets with lots of angst.

At least they have all stopped moaning about saint Bridget now I suppose, I thought that was never going to end.
