Prophet Mohammed film

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...m-planned.html

I predict a new leader of the IMDB best movie poll - 1.5 billion votes, all 10/10 .

First thing I thought was "isn't it considered an insult to Islam to depict Mohammed?" Then I read the rest of the article where they say that Mohammed will not be depicted in the film, in accordance with this issue.

Then I thought "how are they going to make a film about Mohammed if he's not actually gonna be in it?"

Wouldn't that have been like them making "The Passion of the Christ" but not bothering to show Jesus being crucified? Kinda bypasses the whole point, doesn't it?

I refer everyone to the film, the Message. Which illustrates how you can make a film without physically showing the prophet.

There are several interesting issues about this movie, obviously the fact that we never see the Prophet Mohammed or his family is one. Another is the fact that they wish to attract the "best international talent" to star in the motion picture - I'm assuming that we won't see Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks or Meryl Streep appearing? I'm also wondering how much they are going to leave out of the more "interesting" points of his life?

In actual fact this is the story of the kindest, most humble man ever known to mankind, and I respect muslim wishes for him not to be depicted. However, I have heard countless, speeches of how he looked like, nonetheless because muslims believe you should not depict him thats fair enough to me. It is something to do with idolatry. I look forward to hearing more news on this film, because there is so much misconceptions about this man, when in reality he bought so much to the human race.

I was going to bring up The Message, to show it can be done. Good to see they are respecting that. Look forwards to the film.

I wonder if it'll mention him marrying a six year old girl and having sex with her when she was nine?

From what I gather she was a lot older than what you say, it is misconceptions such as these that cause pain to muslims. Don't forget that this was over 1400 years ago, and the female in question was the daughter of the prophets best friend. Aisha was in fact one of the most respected females in Islam, and before you start your derogatory comments, I ask you to realize that it was he whom fought so hardly to create women's rights. The Islam we see implemented by the hardcore elements of the believers , is of no fault of the religion but in fact a reflection of a certain culture or people.
I suggest people read about the relevant topics instead of posting vindictive remarks about a beautiful person.

no chance of it showing exactly how insane he was. changing things to suit his personal convenience, mixing religion and military/state power in the most hideous way. creating a mind crippling ideology that binds people to this day. if it were done right it would be quite the horror show.

So, a film about a bloke, in which the bloke never actually appears. Sounds riveting!

Maybe they can wrap his head in bandages, like the Invisible Man.
