Why is it still impossible to series link double bills?

As per title really. I read some very old posts complaining about this - yet here we are maybe a year or so later and it still doesn't work as it should.

I find it incredibly annoying having to set myself reminders elsewhere to make sure I manually re-add a second show of any double billings. Surely this should be sorted by now?

I'm slightly confused by this as well? The box adds the next link as the first episode begins recording ...

An example of this working just last night would be the Apprentice USA on BBC1, two episodes back to back and they have recorded perfectly upon setting the series link at the first of last weeks double bill.

By setting additional reminders and adding the extra episode yourself it sounds like you are breaking the link yourself.

How do you mean? Works fine for me. I set the first episode of NCIS:LA on a series link and it records the first episode, then the second episode of the double bill automatically .. as did last nights Apprentice USA on BBC1, first episode set with series link, and the second episode directly after it recorded fine with no other action required (and next weeks episodes of both these shows are showing as set to record).

It never worked properly with Legend of the Seeker - always recording the first 2 back to back and then the next week only recording the first of the 2 episodes (with the 2nd of the episodes never showing in the planner), and now with Wheeler Dealers. I had initially just set the very first episode of Legend of the Seeker and figured it would record all of them, but it never did, hence me trying to always add the second episode again manually.

I have tried messing around with repeated series of Wheeler Dealers, setting each episode separately, just setting one and having it linked - but it just ain't working. No matter what, the following episode never shows up on the planner to be recorded and indeed, isn't recorded. :/

I have Wheeler dealers set up on series link on DRT and it recorded both tonight's episodes

TVRS2 part 1 @ 9pm and TVRS2 part 2 @ 9.30 pm with no intervention required

And next weeks sat in the planner

How old is the box ,what padding do you have set , it can make a difference on B2B recordings ?

Works fine for me. I record 2 episodes of Law & Order Monday to Friday at 4pm and 5pm - no problem.

Also works with L&O Criminal Intent every thursday with no problem.

Maybe a full reboot and a forced software update is required

Yeah I think a proper reboot and maybe a planner rebuild may fix this, as obviously it should be working ok - which is good news

edit: it is a Samsung HD box and is only 3 months old or so. I have the padding set to auto I think? At least I have never changed it, so it is set to whatever is default.

As I say, it worked first time with Legend of the Seeker and then went squiffy. Hopefully reboot and planner rebuild does the job.

I've posted about this in another thread. I set the show on series link when it returned and it started out ok,but last week I noticed beforehand that the Thursday 9.00pm had vanished from my planner for no obvious reason. Added it back in and it recorded, and picked up and recorded the 10.00pm episode, all ok. The 10.00pm should have triggered only this weeks 9.00pm to appear, but I found it had added in episodes at 9.00pm and 11.00pm. I believe the 11.00pm is a repeat.
