Same here. Thoroughly disgusted with their views.

repost
anyways it was a stretch, you give people a reason to whine about their lives they'll take it. esp bad was the chinese chick who clearly had issues of being left by her husband and now bitter she couldn't get a date while towing two kids. but the program needs to force the issue to fit their thesis and not question whether she's just being insane for other reasons.

Me too. I didn't agree with what Geoff Schuman said about why these people want to 'white' themselves and now we see there is some type of reasoning for their choice, not the 'being taught by the white man' belief he had.

It's definitely opened my eyes, I live in a predominantly white area and all you hear of is fake tans, tanning booths, etc. I didn't realise it worked both ways!

I don't believe they *need* to surgically alter themselves to fit in British society, while racism is still prevalent in many places, on the whole we are a very tollerant society. There are laws in place to stop employers, etc. being prejudiced again anyone for being different, whether it's their sexuality, race, gender...
I think they're having some sort of identity crisis and rejecting their culture for whatever reason, and trying to blame it on the society they live in.

What a vacuous bint she was! I tend not to go around judging how 'rich or poor' someone appears to start with but if I did I doubt I would do so by what their nose looked like

I agree.

The comment 'I feel rich' after her nose job totally floored me. Why feel the need to have her nose done anyway as she looked no different 'after' to 'before'. Now her mannish jawline is something I would have had done if I'd been in her shoes, rather than the nose.

Anyone see her at the end waltzing off into Waitrose dressed in a designer dress and Louboutin shoes?
What a stupid mare.

It could be worse. She could have waltzed into Waitrose wearing her "Bang Babes" outfit, or lack thereof!

Yes, that last scene was very bizarre. When it showed her getting done up at the end of the programme, I thought she was heading to a swish bar or clubbing, not out to Waitrose's in designer dress and five inch heels!

That is it: identity crisis. They are all going through it for one reason or another.

Mun- He was beaten and abused because of his race, so subconsciously he rejects what made him a target. He describes it as wanting to 'blend in', and he envisions that as becoming white.
It's so sad because he doesn't realise how beautiful he is!

Not to mention he has a little girl who will inevitably pick up on his racial insecurities, and so the cycle may continue.

Jet - She rejects what she sees as 'blackness' having been subjected to an assault by a black girl gang. Subconciously she's tried to distance herself from those girls by changing her looks. She did sound quite snobbish, but again I think that is due to her own delusions.

These people need therapy no cosmetic surgery. Once they have the surgery they will only focus on something else to fixate on.

I can't help but feel sorry for these people.

I couldn't help thinking their reasons for wanting changes wasn't any different from white people who want to alter their features because they don't feel perfect enough as they are.

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm not an ethnic minority, but I'm nowhere near the western ideal of beauty either.

He wasn't talking about these people specifically.
Those clips are the same clips of him talking from last weeks show.
He's being working in Radio for years, doing talkshows for various stations.
I'm assuming he's done this subject few times in his shows.
What kind of reasoning do you think others have for the various procedures they go through?

The dark = ugly, light = pretty thing, seems to exist all over the place, Brazil, South Asians, West Indians, etc.
Oh thought of the lyric from an old Reggae record whilst watching this.
"If you was white, You's alright,
If you was brown, Stick around,
But if you's black, oh, brother, Get back

Went looking for the track and artist and found out it goes back a few years and nowhere near Jamaican Reggae.

Jet's just a collection of 'issues' on her own.
I could feel some sympathy for the Asian lady, but I'm afraid I'd have problems not telling Jet to F right off.

Well some people seem to want to change to fit in or be less noticable.
I'm not sure what influence you think the law has in a lot of people's lives day to day.
Usually doesn't stop people attacking someone, when the numbers are in their favour or shouting things (as happened in the program) or generally being rude and offhand if the numbers aren't in their favour.

There was a (IIRC) Malaysian guy on last weeks show who had a thing about his height.
He felt that his height was a barrier in the UK/west because people didn't take him seriously and he felt he stood out.
He said back home it wouldn't be a problem because he'd be of average height.
He even looked into having his legs stretched surgically.

I had a (white) mate relating some story or another to me years ago.
Only thing I really remember was 'oh he was one of the really black ones, you know the really dark ones, really evil'

Jet wasn't sub conciously doing anything, every word and action seemed to be about distancing herself.
As far as I could tell, Black = poor, ugly, no class and whatever other negative stuff you can think of, as far as was concerned.
I'd have like to have heard some more of that radio talkshow, it wouldn't have been pretty if she'd said some of the things she'd said on this show.

I'm not sure why she did the show but Jet really should have kept all this stuff to herself.
I haven't heard so much casual racism in years and from such an unexpected source. I know she feels she's rejecting blackness and black people but now she's given them reason to outright reject her.

It was really appalling to learn about the experience of the Asian woman who was mocked and ridiculed just for being dark from members of her OWN community. I felt really sorry for her daughter who was clearly distressed about the treatment of her mother. Due to this, I can understand why she wants to be lighter skinned.

As for Jet, the person who rang up the radio and said she was vacuous was most certainly not wrong. I couldn't believe how ignorant this girl is. When she related that she was beaten up by some black girls I have a good inkling as to the reason for the attack. Her attitude said it all.

I watched that programme (and Jet in particular) with an opened mouth! I just couldn't believe the things she was coming out with.

I'm a Black woman, and to tell you the truth if i'd gone to school with Jet & she was carrying on like that back then - i would've been tempted to give her a slap as well!
But seriously, the woman obviously needs psychological help, not plastic surgery!

I'd have been interested to see what her parents had to say about it all.
