Beverley Knight!!!

Just come in from watching the first date of her UK tour.

Unbelievable, unmissable.

Quite possibly the best female soul vocalist in the world right now - right at her peak.

If you like R&B Soul this is one tour you'll remember the rest of your life.

I would like to see her, but I went off her after Affirmation unfortunately. It wasn't because of her music... I just lost interest and never really heard much after Affirmation.

Glad she was good. I was going to catch her in Manchester but she sold out I believe.

Without a doubt, the best vocalist to come out of the UK. I adore her.

I think she is terrific. She has also achieved a consistent chart success that many of her predecessors have struggled to do (Mica Paris, Juliet Roberts, Caron Wheeler).

However ...

I saw her new video for 'In Your Shoes' the other night and was appalled. A really awkward use of an 80s pop sample (Orange Juice 'Rip It Up') with Chipmunk rapping gratuitously slung in ... . It just felt like a crass attempt to appeal to 'retro' and 'modern' audiences by welding elements together that don't really work.

Dunno who thought this would be a good idea ... such a shame as she has a great voice and a unique talent - she may want/need to 'shift units', but burrowing who she is in a gimmicky mess like that isn't the way to do it. She is a much classier act than that!

I've seen her live about 6 or 7 times and she is without doubt the best vocalist I've ever witnessed really show their craft on a stage. I've got tickets for this tour but it's on the second leg at the Royal Albert Hall which is after Christmas though.

She's been the best soul voice and best voice in general to have emerged from the U.K for about 15 years now and still maintains that title, I've never seen another female UK vocalist who can even hold a candle against her when it comes to her craft.

Seen her live twice and she was utterly amazing. Something that has never been captured in her single releases. Her latest album though is very disappointing. Not even played it since it was was released. I thought it would be excellent seeing as it's on her own label and she has all the say so. I won't be going to see her tour as I'm just not that interested in her at the mo. Her new songs do nothing for me and have heard the oldies far too many times. Come back old Bev!!

I liked the new album though I agree I had been more impressed with earlier stuff like 'No Man's Land' 'Shape of You'. But when I heard her perform the new album live I was totally blown away. If you listen to tracks like 'Soul Survivor' and 'Bare' you only get a hint of what she does with these songs live.
If you get a chance to see her live you won't be disappointed in the new songs. But I do agree to an extent - I will definitely be hoping for a live album and/or DVD.

I have heard a few tracks such as Soul Survivor and Bare funnily enough, live from the iTunes gig a few months a go and it sounded 10 times better than on the album.
She's on a tv shows in a few weeks times singing a Carpenters song. Should be fantastic.
