Survivor: Torchwood Characters Round Eleven

Thanks to everyone who voted in Round Ten

Season One provides our first two evictees this time around with 47.37% of you nominating Lynn Pierce whilst Helen Sharman was picked by 36.84% of you.

We had a tie in thrd place with

+ Brenda Williams

&

+ Jonah Bevan

both securing votes from 26.32% of you. But, as always, it's cumulative votes that count in the event of a tie so along comes a whale and swallows Jonah.

Well done to dgembadgemba who was the only person who managed to nominate all three evictees

None of the evicted characters were part of anyone's Predictions on either leaderboard so both remain unchanged.....

Here's the question for this round:

Some Torchwood stories eg: Captain Jack Harkness / Children of the Earth / Out Of Time have had elements that were set in the past.

i) Would you like to see a story totally set in the past (perhaps just featuring the people who made up Torchwood at that point)?

ii) If another Captain Jack Harkness type of story (mixing past and present) was to be made what era should be used for the past?

As with the last round you need to pick which of the four characters listed below you like the least then post your votes on this thread or send them to me via PM. The three with the most votes will be evicted from the game. If you'd like any that aren't evicted to roll forward into the next round all you need to do is type "auto" with your votes & any that have Survived will automatically roll forward into the next round. In the event of a tie-break cumulative votes will be taken into account.

So, it's on with the game then. Time to pick your four least favourite characters from:-

Shame about Jonah, I think he deserved to stay a bit longer, though at the same time I think the episode was more about Nikkie than him.

As for the questions.

a) no, not really. I thought it was interesting to get a hint at past TW teams in Fragments, but a whole episode would be too much i think, especially with no appearance from anyone connected with modern day torchwood.

b) Certainly there are eras that would be interesting to explore, but at the same time TW isn't a time travel show, now more than ever, thats the whole reason for the disabling of Jack's space hopper. Still if it were to happen again, I'd like to find out about 'the stray javelin', whenever that was!

old votes:
Katie Russell (Andrea Lowe)
Brenda Williams (Nerys Hughes)

new votes:
Emily Holroyd (Heather Craney)
Alice Guppy (Amy Manson)

Both seemed like sparky enough gals, but their parts were fairly under developed (by necessity) and I think Alex had the best cameo part in Fragments.

Argh! I knew it was about to happy but like Mutley, sad to see Jonah go this early. He would have made my top 10 easily, maybe higher.

Still:
Colonal Oduya
A Day in the Death: Henry Parker
Something Borrowed: Brenda Williams

New:
Fragments: Emily Holroyd

As for question 1), it might be interesting to see a story involving Jack in the past and his Torchwood origins but it would have to link into the present day some how. I wouldn't mind seeing something involving Captain John and Jack together "back in the day"!

2) I liked CJH a lot as a story but I'm not sure it would work again. As you say, TW isn't really a time-travel show and I think that's better done in Who.

As for the side-question I wouldn't mind seeing a story featuring the WW1 Torchwood

Some Torchwood set with Jack and team in the past might be interesting and get around the return after CoE issue.

I like the historical ones being an historian. Captain Jack meets Oscar Wilde might be interesting if DW10 can meet Shakespeare...... which reminds me as I'm watching that episode now we never did discover what the Doctor had done to upset the Queen.

10) Captain John Hart (James Marsters)

19) Captain Jack Harkness: Captain Jack Harkness ~ The Captain (Matt Rippy)

01) Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)

i) Yes. Mostly an episode with the team before Gwen enters the picture (Jack, Tosh, Owen, Suzie, and Ianto). but other teams would be interesting, too. I could see such an episode being completely set in the past but tying into a season-long arc.

ii) Not WWII, that's for sure. While it seems a little silly to think that the production team would do that era when they've had WWII-era stories in both DW and Torchwood, I can see the writers thinking that the time is so nostalgic and interesting that they'd do it *again*. I'd like a non-wartime flashback, I think, maybe in the 1900s or 1910s.
