BBC2 analogue gone in North West
And all Freeview boxes/TVs have to be retuned. As a result, my trusty Nokia boxes will be a brick soon. BBC1, BBC2 and some other channels can't be retuned to it due to their frequencies changing (or something like that). Marvellous(!)
Say goodbye to Ceefax (soon) as well. Welcome to Third World Britain. |

The switch-off has been known about for years. Sounds like you weren't prepared.

Well, I say junk, but it's been a perfectly serviceable box until now and I thought the whole change was a backwards step anyway. I still haven't changed that view. |

What will the BBC do now they wont be able to show the Superleague show on certain weeks on BBC2 analogue.
No doubt they will axe it. |

I'm amazed there's some people still watch analogue. I have seen a few still use it around here. Personally I've never turned analogue into my tv since 2002.
I imagine by the time they do cut these channels off there will be little worth watching. BBC1, 2, ITV, C4 and Five will naturally cut output as they become digital channels. Already Five sell airtime to quiz tv and ITV's STV region have teleshopping on. |

As noted above Rugby league fans in North of England would watch analogue BBC2 for earlier showing of Super League Show than national showing. Now this option is unavalable for BBC2 on digital so maybe they will switch it to BBC1. Also some people find Ceefax/Teletext easier to access and more pages than digital text e.g. more regional sports pages on analogue ceefax than digital version.

I lost BBC2 analogue today as well as all BBC digital channels. I did a retune on my Humax 9200T PVR but the channels remained blank. Just a black screen. Do I need to wait for some kind of everlap period?

1/ Do a Factory reset on it. You won't lose any recordings but will lose any scheduled recordings sat waiting to go. or 2/ Go into the Edit Channels List section and delete every single TV and Radio channel. Either will remove all your existing tuning data. Then retune and that should sort it. Seems to be a well known quirk of the Humax PVRs. |

So use with caution. Maybe try setting up a dummy recording on some channel you don't mind losing and then delete just that channel and see what happens first. |

I think all regional variations of the terrestrial channels will still exist after the Digital Switch over. I know on Sky the regional variations such as BBC One & Two Wales and Scotland etc are all placed near the back end of EPG. I think they are also available on Freeview.

Has the power on BBC digital channels gone up as a result of this? I ask this because I have a USB freeview stick with analogue and on the move the analogue channels were often the only reception and it couldn't get any digital. Might the BBC channels at least be more likely to work now.

I believe a Welsh transmitter has it its power increased, causing it increased reception in the NW of England. Check the thread in the Freeview part of the forum to be sure.
