THE MIGHTY BOOSH = do you 'get' it?
Ive tried to watch it after hearing how great it was and just cant get it.
![]() Is it meant to be set in the future? Why are they using euros not pounds? The strange aliens types who and why are they their? The whole show to me is like a bad dream, it makes no sense from begining to end and is not funny. I gave up! |

It's definatly one of those programmes that you either get, or you dont. I loved the Mighty Boosh Live DVD, but I dont find any of the actual episodes that funny.

I 'get' it and love it but can see why many don't. It's quite dark in places and certainly odd (like Marmite!)

I did try earlier in the year but failed miserably, a couple of things made me laugh but overall it was poor, I usually love this type of stuff too.

Yes, I find the Mighty Boosh TV show funny, but it really does pale in comparison to the live show I went and saw in Plymouth.
Tony Harrison and Howard are my favourite characters

I get it, I love it. But I am young and I wear a lot of black. I think these things help.
I saw them live, it was phenomenal and even won my mum over. I first fell in love with the show after obsessively watching the Brixton live show in ten minute segments on YouTube, then I stalked the episodes. It's too difficult to explain what's going on...it is really one of those you-get-it-or-you-don't things. |

I saw there most recent live show in Bournmouth (SHARED A POLO WITH THE HITCHER AKA NOEL FIELDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). There live show was amazing (imo not as funny as the first live show) but still great. It would of been an even better night if there wasnt a women completly drunk laughing at every word that came out of there mouths.
I like the tv show some episodes are great like the old greg ones some are ok and are just plain creepy like the crack fox one. If your thinking of watching it watch this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjmrTVNI4Ug if you dont like it you probably wont like the show if you do give it a try. |

![]() Yet I have all the series on dvd and have seen the live show, so I think you could call me a pretty big fan! It's just quirky, random humour with no real point other than to make you laugh. It's just not your type of humour. I like absurd, surreal and just plain stupid type comedy so I love it. |

Usually, you have to have a good knowledge of music to "get" The Mighty Boosh. There's a lot of "non-mainstream" musical references, shall we say, in the show. Luckily, some of us who listen to such music can understand these references and therefore enjoy the comedy. The bits in between are also funny. Odd, but funny

My daughter's been a huge fan since the start and I was able to help her out a bit with the musical references - though I never found it particularly funny.
I thought it was pretty juvenile and immature and wasn't surprised it mostly appealed to teenagers/students/sad middle aged people who wanted to be 'down with the kids'! But - even my besotted daughter lost interest with the last series, which even she didn't find particularly funny. I;d see if you can swap your dvd for a 'League Of Gentlemen' one - you won't get that either, but there's something unfathomably brilliant about it.

No idea what it says about me but I loved it.
Favourite sketches: The one with 'the crux of the matter' in it (I don't watch the IT Crowd but is the guy dressed all in black in the sketch from that?) The one where they all turned their backs on Naboo and the music box tune plays (heh) Anything with 'the moon' in it ![]() ![]() ![]() Hee hee. It's rare I 'get' stuff that's so off the wall but this had me hooked right from the start.

The one when they're stranded on the island with the coconuts is one of the most bizzare things I have ever watched!

The first two series are excellent (wasn't sure about the second series the first time I watched, but now I think it has the best episodes). They seemed to be a bit lazy in the third series, re-using old ideas and characters, and the new ones they had were mostly weak.
Still, very funny overall, some great songs too, and the live show I went to a few years bac k was amazing. |

As the opening titles say....'Open your mind, we're about to take you on a journey through time and space! It's not about 'getting it' its totally bonkers off the wall comedy genius. It's a marmite comedy, you either love it or hate it, bit like 'The League of gentlemen' It scared the hell out of me when I first saw it, but now I love it! These shows are actually very very clever, insane genius! |
