frequency for a Chinese channel
My mother in law is Chinese and has heard that she can get a 2 hour Chinese programme [in Chinese].
Is there one or more on a normal radio or do U have to buy a D>A>B radio? If so what frequencies do I use please? |

A DAB radio wouldn't be any more use than a normal one, I think - I'm not aware of any extra Chinese-language stations on DAB.
Spectrum Radio in London (558 AM) has some programmes in Chinese (not sure if it's Cantonese or Mandarin), but that's only in the London area. I don't know of any others based in the UK but they may exist. Otherwise the only place to go for radio in Chinese is the internet, or possibly radio via satellite TV. |

The Chinese Spectrum Programme is on DAB and online between 6-8pm on Spectrum radio in London.
http://www.spectrumradio.net/ China Radio International via WRN from the Chinese Government is on Spectrum London AM 558 4-6 PM, then 9PM to 11PM, also on 1440 AM from Luxembourg. |

There is a strong signal from China Radio International at most times in the 49m Short Wave band (I think broadcast from Europe). Anything from the Roberts R862 or current equivalent (costing around £35) onwards will do the trick. The really cheap short wave sets drift off station badly, and can be very frustrating if you want to listen to something for more than a couple of minutes.
