Ideas for an 8yr olds birthday sleepover?

I'm pretty sure they'll be happy with some pizza's and then to disapear upstairs for DVDs, play station and mucking around but I'm trying to think of something more. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Edit: It's a boys sleepover.

Don't!
I'm trying not to think of the aftermath.

Firstborn is 8, and when he has friends over they tend to prefer to just do their own thing.

Having said that, a 'midnight feast' might be a good idea - buy some chocs, crisps etc and tell them (with a large wink) not to eat it in the night. They will love planning to 'steal' it from the kitchen while you're 'not looking'!

ETA - he's not had any sleepovers yet though, except with family.

I thought about letting my son have a sleep over for his recent 8th birthday but when I sounded a couple of his friends mums out and one stated that her son has regular night terrors and the other one stated that he still gets in their bed every night I decided against it!

When my daugher has sleep overs I tend to just stock up on snacks and leave them to their own devices.

My son (7) had a sleepover recently and it went well. We set up a TV and DVD player in their bedroom (we picked what they could watch) and they also used the linen and various bits of furniture to make a giant cubby house for them to sit in to watch the movies.
They also ran amok as expected, but were bilssfully asleep by 11pm. As other posters have said, heaps of food will go down well. I also had some board games here, but they weren't interested!! I just let them do their own thing, within reason, and checked on them alot.

Good luck!!

Change all the clocks in the house: midnight feast at 9pm, they'll be asleep by 11pm.

And check them for nits as they walk in the door

My advice would be DON'T DO IT!!!

Just hearing the word 'sleepover' fills me with fear...

18 months ago my son had a sleepover for his 10th birthday, if you've got 10 minutes to spare have a read all about it here:

You may get lucky and have a less eventful night than I did! If you do go ahead, then I wish you the very best of luck!!
