Cheryl Cole the beginning of the spiral???

This may be a bit premature, however while reading one of my mothers trashies i started to think that recently there has been a steady decline in the trashies of admiration for Cheryl.

Now i know she's sitting at number 1 at minute but from that there seems to be quite a bit of backlash against her in the magazines and newspapers that once were backing her to the hilt.

One story i read mentioned her flagging marriage, her being put out by Simon, her acts being pretty abyssmal and tearing her apart for her fashion choices. On top of that many of the stories written about her have been pretty much along the same lines.

Thing is this time last year, she was viewed in such a high regard as she stayed with her allegedly straying husband, she could do no wrong with her fashionable choices, she was Simon's sweetheart and her category was filled with talent in the x factor and her act won.

Do you believe that Cheryl is heading toward a very downward spiral???

Just to clairfy i actually do like her and think her album is pretty good, this was just something i was thinking about while reading that story.

It's bound to happen. She has no discernible talent to have any sort of longevity. She may hang around for a few years, but there is always someone younger, prettier, more popular just around the corner.

Yes, definitely on the way down. She has a #1 single, #1 album, is part of the #1 show on ITV, has a perfume, advertising haircare products, is often on non trashy magazine covers, has been given a £5m publishing deal for someone to write books for her plus lots I've probably missed out.

I imagine there are many who wish they were on the way down like she is

she is defiently going to have a massive backlash at some point. she is too exposed so once the press get bored of praising her they will turn all Katona on her as it would make better reading.

Not at the moment - her album and single, no matter how awful they are, remain high in the charts, but as quickly as the tide turned in her favour following her husband's misdemeanours, it could just as easily turn against her once again.

She often looks quite surly and sour-faced on the X Factor live shows, unlike the earlier rounds which can be edited in her favour.

I think

people forget she is only 26. She's done incredibly well. Alongside all those who admire her are hundreds of pretty vile people who resent her for all kinds of plainly daft reasons.

She gets a lot of stick from the rabid star haters and those who think she's no better than she ought to be. Being famous in this country guarantees you a raft of shrieking harpies who hate you for no reason.

I think she is remarkable for surviving everything she has had to go through for 'fame' and long may she flourish. If she is fragile I am really not surprised because - most of the time - fame sucks. As many of my clients can testify. I am glad I am not them.

She is ultra, ultra pretty, but it has to be said that her talent is average - there are probably hundreds of other girls of her age who, with a stroke of luck and brilliant PR, not to mention high profile friends (Simon Cowell and Will i Am to name but 2), could have achieved just as much.
And I really believe that the fact that she stayed by Cashley was a stroke of genius as far as raising her profile goes - whether it was intended that way or not.
But no, I don't think she's on the downward spiral yet - not by a long way.

The brutal truth is she should never have got where she has.
She has no musical talent whatsoever.

Unfortunately this country seems to be full of thick, ignorant people who can't see through the hype/b*llshit and continue to throw money away on them.

Couldn't agree more ... it's the Jade Goody/Stacy Solomon-loving brigade who seem to thrive on this sort of p**h!

And don't even get me started on how someone who wants to make a career in music (why else would you try out for X factor??) has absolutely no knowledge of it? How could Stacy not have heard of Etta James???? Words fail me .....

I can think of plenty of valid reasons why so many people dislike her, it doesnt make them rabid star haters nor does it make them vile as you so elequently have put it. It might be an idea to remember that not everyone shares the same opinion as you. Think about that time you hurl petty insults at other posters.

When your as ridiculously over exposed as she is right now, there is only one way to go.

While we were on the subject WTF was she wearing last Saturday night? It looked like she had made two vinyl LP's into a bra and stuck them to her chest.

Cheryl is an incredibly pretty girl - and that's it

That novelty won't last much longer, will it?

Yes, but the question was 'Do you believe that Cheryl is heading toward a very downward spiral???'

I'd say anyone could be as pretty if they had the money & the time to spend on their appearance that she does

......Other suggestions include a CD rack, half a piano and a set of hubcaps.

Most 'designer' gear looks utterly ridiculous when worn anywhere other than a catwalk.

I don't see any 'rabid star haters' in here either......ironic since some of the most 'rabid' folk in here are often so-called fans getting in a tizz over their favourite celebrities.

No she won't hopefully. I don't even want the celebs I dislike to go on a downwards spiral. She's certainly not gonna fall while she's on the X Factor.

Absolutely. I think she'll be on the X-Factor for quite a few years yet. Cheryl's got one thing that's totally in her favour, and that's gorgeous looks.

Cheryl is
1. Stunning to look at,
2. has a great personality,
3. is part of the biggest girl band in the UK,
4. Is a judge and literally right hand woman on x-factor to one of the biggest influencial names in the pop world today, Simon Cowell.
5. Has L'Oreal endorsements, magazines queueing up for her.
6. Only sixth down the line is there any relevance to her being married to a footballer , in fact he is a liability.

She has produced a solo pop album much to the laughter of many who consider her to be the poorest singer of Girls Aloud. That fact could not be disputed, she certainly is not the strongest voice at all in that grouping. What she does have is literally the X factor, that something that can make someone stand out from the crowd, and that is the key to her success.

Nadine Coyle is considered the best singer of GA. No arguments there, but she has not a drop of charisma or special something that would make her capable of sustaining a tv career outside of singing as Cheryl is doing.

As pop albums go, Cheryl's is right up there with the cream of the crop. There are great tracks on it, and at least 3-4 more which are prime single releases for the future, 3 words, Parachute and Stand up being the best three. Fair play to her. There is so much begrudgery out there, its about time someone cheered her on for her achievements. Long may it last for her.

I think her marriage is in a downwards spiral. She don't look happy this year and I think it has a lot to do with Ashley!

I do feel and always have felt she would be better off without him, she doesn't need him at all! I have seen a change in her this year. I like Cheryl as a person, but her music ability, well she got lucky didn't she?

1. Stunning only due to some work being done. I.E. hair extensions, teeth done, made up to the eyeballs, fake eyelashes etc.........
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/...01_468x564.jpg

needs a tonne spent on herself too.........
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...weetheart.html

2. Great personality? Beats people up in toilets, calls Charlotte church "a nasty piece of work with a fat head" and saying that it was appropriate for her to be in the walkers adverts "stuffing her face", calling Lily Allen "a chick with a dick" being personal with Danyl on the x factor - "you just don't do it for me" Not really that much class there is there?

3. Part of a manufactured girl band who too be honest, apart from Nadine, can't sing that greatly and they don't even write their own songs. Also Cheryl's one of the weakest singers.

4. Is a rubbish judge whom the other week cared more about her own singing than of her own acts, even though she already has an established career and doesn't really need to concentrate hard on it unlike her acts where EVERY week is really important for them. Also, she picked some of the weakest acts from her final 6 to go to the live finals missing out Daniel as she "doesn't get him". All the acts need to be pop singers like herself for her to be able to do anything with them, any other genre its too much work for her. Also the only reason she won last year was due to her getting the strongest category and probably having a lot of help off simon.

5. Only has those deals due mainly to her looks and as I've already said she wouldn't be that pretty if she didn't have a lot of money to spend on herself

6. What's marrying a footballer got to do with your own personal success??

Produced a popular album which she wrote hardly anything of it. And if it wasn't for her looks and her performing on the x factor, that album wouldn't have sold half as much.

Basically she's got a fantastic PR team.

Sorry but i need to back her up on that, she wrote almost half of the album and to be fair the tracks she wrote on are some of the best on the album...the rest i kinda agree with bar the second point about Lily Allen etc...most of what she said was retatilation from the others

I agree, all this "Cheryl is stunning" business makes me laugh. There are plenty more as pretty if they had the money to throw at themselves. I do not think she is that stunning at all. Attractive ye but not a natural beauty not imho anyway.

It has been the beginning of the backlash for about a year already if you read this forum! There will always be a mixed press, most tabloids and particularly the trash magazines exist to be negative.

#1 show, #1 album, #1 single etc. No backlash. Just usual press.

As far as Cowell is concerned, so long as they (press/people) are talking he's delighted. People are quick to forget that he wasn't a ratings hit because he was likeable, he was a ratings hit because everyone was talking about him. And Cheryl certainly gets people talking.

Completely untrue. Cheryl was a rarity the first time she appeared in front of Pete Waterman all them years ago. Pete even commented on how beautiful her eyes were. So, it's not just because of the money she's spent on her appearance, but that she's a rarity.
