Virgin Wireless
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone could help me out here.
I need a wireless router for my BB and i called Virgin and they said i had to pay £40 or £50 depending on the one i want, or i could up my package to 20MG and it'd be free but this means £11 extra a month to my bill?? Is this right???? i heard that all VM BB customers should get them for free??? |

As far as I am aware only new 20Mb and 50Mb customers get a router for free. You can get the Netgear router Virgin are selling for £40 for about £32.50 in PC Word (assuming cable BB) but without the possibly restrictive Virgin firmware.

I purchased mine from ebay a few weeks ago. It is the Virgin Media-branded router that typically comes free with some new broadband contracts-- we've had ours for years so I had to look outside of Virgin. PC World could do one for about £45. I found it on ebay and got it for i think £18 brand new. It is Netgear Wireless G, and the product code is WGR614. Pop that into ebay and you'll see a bunch.

I had the same problem but I thought that if I had been a good customer for a long time Virgin ought to reward my loyalty by providing me with a free router and I e-mailed Neil Burkett's office to tell him I was disgusted that obviously loyal customers aren't as highly thought of as new ones.
I got my free router within 3 days. Try it! Greg |

I downgraded my TV pack from XL to M+ via the Virgin Website last week, just the TV, nothing else, kept all the rest (L (ex M) broadband & M phone) exactly the same and then got a wireless router through the post 2 days later.... I phoned up to check I wasn't being charged for that and asked how to send it back.
I was told that there's a bug with the website and that they always send a wireless router out when you make a change online (yes, honestly, that's what they said). They said not to worry about it and just keep it as they don't want it back. This was the Indian call centre, so it's entirely possible that they don't know what they're on about, but perhaps it's worth a go if you dare! In the meantime I'll wait to see my next bill before binning it / wrapping it up as a christmas present / putting it on ebay. |
