Chipmunk criticising John & Edward.

When I saw the headline, I envisioned Alvin, Simon or Theodore having a bit of a diva strop, so you can imagine my confusion when I clicked and saw this:

Quote:
Chipmunk has admitted that it "hurts" watching John & Edward try to sing on The X Factor.
The 'Oopsy Daisy' star claimed that it will damage the reputation of the British music scene if the twins win the ITV show.
"They're entertainers, not musicians," he told The Sun.

I decided out of curiosity to click on his music video, guessing that it would be some kind of up-tempo rnb song, and that he'd be a reasonable vocalist, but was surprised to see that the singing was done by a lady, whose name I do not know, and that he just sort of..talked fast over the track.

I sense a bit of the pot calling the kettle black here..what does everyone else think?

Well I think it's laughable that he thinks him and Tynchy Strider's opinions on music are worth anything, as if anyone would even describe them as musicians anyway!

Sure John & Edward are awful, but that's what makes them so good!

I'd rather listen to John & Edward trying to sing than one of Chipmunk's bland rnb/pop songs..

Heheh I had a laugh how anyone can moan about musical credibility who calls himself Chipmunk and his mate who was equally horrified by the twins - Tynchy Stryder. What twerps. Now even just seeing their names, I get a sense they hardly have the musical credibility of say - Elgar. So their opinions on the twins' musical cred are really about as irrelevant as the thoughts of Tinky WInky and LaLa on the same subject. Get grown up names, boys - then come back and we might take you seriously.

Probably not, though.

That pretty much summed up my thoughts on the matter.

Just a thought but on the judges' panel we have Simon - but which one's Alvin and which one's Theodore?

Out of interest, what direction do you want to see the UK music scene heading and do you think J&E will be the leaders?

Who is this "Chipmunk" of whom you speak? Is he a young people's beat music performer of some sort?

Chipmunk is awful and he actually takes himself seriously, he has more than a bit of cheek calling out J + E

Someone with the moniker "Chipmunk" has no credibility to slag off anyone

He's a rapper not a singer. That's why you found a girl singing not him. Rappers are still musicians. It's all jokes I know, but if Michael Jackson had named himself Squirrel it wouldn't make a dent in his "musical credibility". The name Chipmunk won't effect his career . Ignorance is bliss. I actually can't believe people are sticking up for J+E's musical "talents". Smh.

The thing is, he was setting himself up as the bastion of musical credibility, when his own songs have little in the way of worthiness.

I have nothing against rappers, I quite liked Nas, Mos Def, Tupac and so on, but Chipmunk is nothing more than a mainstream pop performer who has not done anything to give him the credibility to be criticising anyone else.

I wasn't sticking up for John and Edward's musical talents, personally, I think they're awful, but they're awful in a, "I gotta watch this," kind of way, rather than a "time to switch the radio station," way, like chipmunk's songs have me do.
