Data from free phone call votes shows Danyl on top with 35%

This is well worth having a read. Am pretty sure it's not a scam as it's being promoted on Martin Lewis' (you know the one) web site.

In summary, some private enterprise is funding a number of phone votes each week in return for you listening to an advert. Most interestingly ,however, it means they can generate their own (presumably quite accurate) voting stats.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/new...r-act-revealed

From Martin Lewis' website:

"Danyl Johnson is the most popular X Factor act this week, we can exclusively reveal.

The dance teacher from Reading grabbed 35% of votes cast by the 10,000 who voted for their favourite via the free votes system last weekend (see www.moneysavingexpert.com/xfactor for the full loophole guide).

Eccentric Irish twins John and Edward polled just over 30%.

The two acts were way in front of the remainder of the field, headed by Essex-based Olly Murs in third, in the race to be become the next Leona Lewis (right). "

Doesn't surprise me in the least.

Not a fan of his, I still find him talented but not loving his persona at all.

He was bound to be ultra popular this week.

Very interesting. Maybe we'll be saved from the twins after all.

Yes we have had a thread on it, and what you have not said which makes it all the more interesting is that the bottom two in it were the same bottom two on Sunday on the show and in the right order as was revealed by it going to deadlock.

It is not a scam and I have used it to vote for one person once a week other than the third week when there were no free votes as they had no sponsers. This week they are also hoping to have between 20 and 30 thousand free votes, lets hope people do not abuse it and let others have a chance of one vote. Multply voting on there though will not be as easy as on redial on your home phone or mobile though, as you have to listen to the advert before your vote is placed and put through and you are told it has been.

Rebound/sympathy vote. I wonder if it lasts.

Find it hard to believe. It was once said by officials that anyone who ended up in the bottom two would never get enough votes to last until the final. So how can he be bottom two one week then amazingly get top votes the next?

It completely reverses the data they were using on the earlier predictions.

I doubt it will.

For me he will have to undergo a personality transplant. Unfair? Probably. But if you don't get someone you don't get them regardless of talent.

I liked Rachel and that seemed an acceptable scenario.

I would rather the Twins go before him though.

This kind of pathetic sympathy-whoring usually works for the boys. Look at Scott Bruton last year - picked up the largest (or second largest) number of votes the week he did the atrocious "Yeh Yeh" performance because he looked all sad and miserable afterwards.

Will go and check but I am postive that an act in the bottom two has made the final, in fact was it not Ray Quinn, you said final I may add, not winner, no one has WON the X factor having been bottom two, but you know the old saying dont you, never say never, and also just as records are broken so are these types of things. Someone will be bottom and then go onto win, and Alex came periliously close last year I may add. and if you dont believe me go and check the figures.

I wonder what would happen if this company published its voting data straight away on Saturday night or as soon as the free votes are used up. That could really start to screw things up. Presumably X-Factor would not be happy.

I'm not convinced this reflects actual voting.

Wow, i just had a massive deja vu.

JLS and Ray were in the final and they were both in the bottom two at one point. Those are the only acts that I recall.

When was Alex 'perilously' close? She was one place ahead of JLS in the voting when they were in the bottom two but even then she was a significant percentage ahead enough not to be 'perilously close'.

If X Factor cared they'd just take the votes out. If Ofcom cared they'd stop it.
The fact they don't tells you everything you need to know about how well things are really regulated.

I am totally sure this doesn't reflect actual voting. I can really see Danyl being in the bottom two again this week. And I will be annoyed if he goes this early when people like John and Edward and Lloyd who don't have such good voices are still in there.

Sorry I'm not saying that a bottom two act can't go on to win it but I think Danyl benefited because of the so called bullying.

Not sure if that sympathy will be retained - as I posted in reply to the other poster.

Maybe I read the figures wrong then Agent F, or I read a post wrong on a website, but I know that is what I was led to believe that she was really down at the bottom.

So there you go Fringo, you can be in the bottom and make the final.

I would be very surprised if they could detect which calls are free. This will be being offered by one of the operators and interconnected just like every other vote from their network. Of course the operator will know, but when the vote is delivered over the BT inter-connect I'm pretty sure the VAS at the other end won't be able to tell.

Read my other post - I wasn't saying otherwise.

I was merely saying that he has a long way to go to retain the sympathy/fan base after the "story" week.

He's just not that lovable to a lot of people.

I don't think it will. If people voted for him this week who hadn't voted for him before it is obviously a sympathy vote - and he will require something to arouse sympathy again. I can see him in the bottom 2 soon.

I would have thought it would log that the calls all come from the same number, 033 or whatever it is. Same way they can (if they want to) remove calls made using a dialler or people calling over a thousand times.

EDIT - maybe not though

I agree with you. Rachel got the rebound vote last week but it didn't really help her in the long-run.

And if she'd stayed last week she'd have probably been safe this week but up the following.
