Tiana Benjamin, Rudolph Walker and EE all win at the Screen Nation Awards

It was a fantastic night for EastEnders as the show scooped a hat-trick of awards at Birmingham's Black International Film Festival & Music, Video & Screen Awards.

Tiana Benjamen won the award for Best UK Actress for her role as feisty Chelsea Fox

The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to…
Rudolph Walker

And if that wasn’t enough…
To round off an impressive night, EastEnders also won Best UK Drama with a Black or Ethnic Cast.

All viewer voted. Well done to the winners.

Well Done Rudolph, Tiana and EE.

Sorry, I have to speak up though - could you imagine the uproar if it was an award cermony just for white actors? I don't see why there should be separate awards just because of race, it should be one award cermony for all, regardless of race or anything.

Is this the award Tiana won last year? And surely Diane Parish is more deserving off it. Not that I dislike Tiana just her character hasn't done much compared to Diane's.

I thought that myself.

Either way though, it's good to see Patrick & Chelsea getting some appreciation. They're both underrated. Congrats to Rudolph & Tiana

WOOP! Well done Tiana, I think she's a great actress who's criminlly underused but I would like to see Diane win it once. Well done to Rudolph as well.

I was just about to post this, I've always said this about the MOBO's too.

I could have posted my own post, but seeing as you've pretty much echoed everything I was going to post I'll just copy yours and say, what walford said

yeah because it impossible to see a caucasian win at an award show which celebrates jazz,r&b,garage.rap e.t.c the same way a black individual cant be found at the mercurys, right?

I would agree with you up to a certain point, but don't you feel that award ceremonies should be based on the talent and skill of actors and actresses in general and not on their skin colour?

ETA: I'm especially glad Rudolph Walker won lifetime achievement award, it's very well deserved.

Weird tiana won, hardly brilliant is she. nice ass though, pretty gorgeous.

And how many black or asian actors make the shortlist of any of the grand awards? Its always the same names/actors who always happen to be fair skin...
Was rudolph ever going to get a lifetime achievement award at the british tv or national soap awards? No, is that now a reflection that he isnt talented? of course not he just wont get his due on that particular stage (for reasons unknown)..This is where award shows such as the screen nation awards come into play..Its quite criminal that a veteran that has given a lot of years to the industry can only be recognised on such a small scale

I'm not sure I can agree with you there, seeing as Tiana Benjamin has won the sexiest female award before and the Masoods have won best family etc. I don't actually think many soap awards base things on skin colour. It's the general public that votes anyway isn't it? So Tiana Benjamin, Rudolph Walker etc, will have won these awards based on the viewing public which is multi cultural. I tend to vote for characters/actors based on the performance given, the storylines etc, not based on their skin colour.

I thought a black person won one of those before.

Eitherway, I could be wrong, but I think the point is, they could still win it though, unlike awards that clearly state unless you're black you stand no chance. Equality obviously skipped right past them.

But most cermony's are all about white actors/actresses. Usually black people dont get a look in..and thats a fact. It seems it is only white people who complain about such things..and the MOBO's.

Probably, but these awards (that these two won) are restrictive to black, and ethnic people only.

Why is it racist to have a small low key award honouring ethnic minorities in a field where they dont get proper recognition? to go as far as to say well if there was an award show honouring only whites wouldn’t that be racist? Is really highlighting your ignorance or unawareness of the prejudice in the world you in habit ..

Are you now going to tell me whites are in the minority? are you going to tell me whites are not fairly represented in the media?

lets stop that nonsense

Your making this out to be more than it is....all was said why have seperate awards?? Why can't the awards just be for everyone. I'm not ignorant thank you, I just don't see why there should be separate awards.
