Water / Electric / Gas rates...

Ok im trying to work out monthly costs it will cost me per month. I've just bought my first house so I'm looking at keeping costs down. I've realised I aint going to have any money at all!

Three bedroom Semi, just myself living there. How much should I allow for electricity / water / gas?

I've been trying to work it out but I just can't. I don't have current rates / prices to go on.

I'm looking at monthly costs to run the house including mortgage, insurance, broadband, sky, and other things at around 1k a month, i'm just looking at reducing that where ever possible.

Since you've only just moved in you'll have to guess how much fuel you are going to use. Put your guess into a price comparison website. Chances are, the cheapest option will be a dual fuel online pay monthly tariff.

Get rid of your Sky, broadband, TV licence and landline. you'll save a fortune. Make good use of you free minutes on your mobile and watch TV on it as well.

Also if you don't know the rates of where you live, how the hell are we supposed to?

If you are rattling around in a three bed house, why dont you consider a house share? then you can split the bills three ways.

I may well take in lodgers in the future, it's something I will have to think about.

Our living costs excluding food are around £900 a month, about half of which is mortgage, and that is for 4 people in a 4 bed detached.
